Marist Liufau reminds me of Rey Maulaluga

He drew comparisons to Troy Polamalu after the NC game. IMHO the better comparison is Rey Maualuga at Southern Cal. Ideally Marist will have a better overall college/pro career.
However Rey was a real difference maker when he first arrived at SC. He was a vicious hitter with speed and athletic ability. Marist has similar traits at the LB position.Looking forward to watching him play at ND.

Star gazers be sure to keep a eye on

For the first time in 800 years on December 21. The Star of Bethlehem AKA the Christmas star will appear. Oh little star of bethlehem....

Go ahead and mark December 21 on your calendar. That’s when we can all witness something not seen in nearly 800 years.

During the upcoming winter solstice, Jupiter and Saturn will line up to create what is known as the “Christmas Star” or “Star of Bethlehem.”

These two planets haven’t appeared this (relatively) close together from Earth’s vantage point since the Middle Ages.

NewsNation talked to a NASA astrophysicist about the phenomenon. Dr. Amber Straughn broke down what’s happening and what you need to do to ensure you can see it. Straughn explained how NASA tracks the history of phenomenon’s like the “Christmas Star.”

“The solar system works like clockwork,” said Straughn. “We can track how the planets move in the sky. And from that we can run the clock backwards and figure out how long ago the planets were lined up like this.”

Question re: Terry Joseph

Is he normally in the defensive booth? Was that him there today?

I don’t know the answer to either question but I couldn’t help wonder if that was Terry Joseph we saw right next to Lea in the booth today and if he is being groomed. And if that grooming is being accelerated because I don’t remember seeing him in the booth in prior games.

Recruiting Logan Diggs is on campus today

Diggs was keeping this low key but he announced on Twitter that he's on campus. Notre Dame running back commit Logan Diggs is on campus today. This is huge news. He was struggling with the dead period extension and didn't want to sign with a school without having visited. Well, he's at ND today. Big news.

Good Morning Everyone
Not much to talk about this morning regarding the opponent for this afternoon's game. When I think of Syracuse football in my lifetime, I think of Donovan McNabb who seemed to play there for about 8 or 9 years. After graduating I heard he went on to star in some Chunky Soup commercials, so good for him. Not a lot going on at Syracuse in terms of football, and I have to say I'm a little disappointed in the transformation of Otto the mascot.

I liked this guy a lot better

That's all I got for Syracuse.
Let's move onto the game. Big stuff happening today on the Notre Dame side. First of all it's Senior Day, and secondly it's a chance to have another undefeated regular season. The Irish control their own destiny, and are a popular pick to end up in the college football playoffs, but first you gotta get there. Step #1 is destroying an undermanned Syracuse team. Sure they've put up a good fight against some decent teams, but this is a game that ND needs to win big then take a week off and head into step #2 the ACCCG against Clemson. I've read a lot of comments on the board this week that ND only needs to keep it close against Clemson and they'll be in the playoffs. Well, I've got 2 words for those folks.......

After we take care of step #2 and beating Clemson, and end up as the 2 seed, then it's on to play 3 seed Ohio State. I've seen the Buckeyes play this year, and they are average in some areas, at least compared to previous years. This all sets up the last game of the year against Alabama, and we'll talk about that as we get closer.

YOUR GAMEDAY FORECAST
Not too bad for the first week of December. Expect the temperature at kick-off to be 39 degrees with winds out of the NNW at 7mph and mostly cloudy skies. There is a 30% chance of precipitation, but mainly in the form of a little drizzle or snow flurries. By the 4th quarter expect conditions to be the same with the temperature at 37 degrees.

How I see the game playing out
. Don't expect mass substitutions early - the players still need to play, and they'll have a week off after today. I do expect a heavy rotation at certain spots, and hopefully Kyren rips off a 71 yarder early in the game to get him to 1,000 and then he can take most of the afternoon off. I would expect by the start of the 4th quarter we'll the mass substitutions start, and yes, Clark will be in the game and he'll even throw a few passes. The goal is to get the game in the bag early, get your starters the work they need, and then play some deserving guys and maybe a senior or 2.

Good Luck Everyone

ACC championship tickets

Does anyone know anything about ACC championship tickets? Is there a lottery or an allotment to the public?

I am not seeing any tickets being sold online, other than 4 seats on vivid seats for $2700 each. None on ticketmaster / stubhub.

I live in Charlotte and was at Panthers Bucs a few weeks ago, they had the lower level every other row and space between parties. At least 5-8k I would estimate.

In 2008 snowballs and a L

The 24-23 loss on a 28-degree afternoon to a team led by an already-fired head coach was nothing but embarrassing. The Irish student body took out its frustrations on each other, turning a 13-point fourth-quarter collapse into nothing but the background of a snowball fight, continuing the annual halftime marshmallow fight on Senior Day.

“I don’t really know what happened,” Clausen said after throwing for 291 yards and two touchdowns on 22-of-39 passing.

Te’o watched that snafu against Syracuse from the sidelines, well, until the cold and snow drove the visiting recruits into an inside lounge.

Legend has it Te’o arrived in South Bend in shorts and flip-flops. Everything about the weekend went poorly for Notre Dame, quite literally everything.

Let's hope history doesn't repeat! Possible snow flurries but not enough for snow balls. And students mostly off campus.

Fun Clarence Lewis tackle

Watching the UNC game again, and it’s so much fun how many fun aspects of this team there are. The career capstones for Book, Hayes, Crawford, JOK, Eichenberg. While simultaneously others are not only just starting theirs but emerging immediately. Williams, Mayer, Hamilton, Foskey, Bramblett, Lewis.

Two plays following Hamilton’s ejection was a 5 yard throw for UNC to Lewis’s guy, Lewis closes quickly with no help, the kind of play that a missed tackle turns into a 15+ yard gain.

Lewis has a perfect tackle—breaks down, on balance, drives his shoulder into the guy and drives him backward. Strength, ability, technique, confidence, good coaching all on display.

Man this team is fun to watch.
