Basketball ND-Kentucky: A Glass Half-Full Perspective

Okay, we understand. Notre Dame almost yakked up a 24-point lead and ended up winning by one (64-63) at Kentucky. Some might want Mike Brey gone, others lament the recruiting. However, let's consider a few items:
• When you first saw the schedule last month, did you automatically mark down an "L" for the Kentucky game at Rupp?
• Notre Dame entered the game 0-8 all-time in Rupp Arena. History was achieved today.
• In the annals of Kentucky basketball — ranked recently the No. 1 all-time program in college basketball — this was the most it ever trailed by at halftime at home (48-26). That's an awful lot of basketball games played through the decades, and more than a century.
• Help is on the way this year, hopefully with Trey Wertz first being declared eligible Wednesday versus Duke, and then Robby Carmody maybe later this month or the next one. Every little piece helps, and a close, survival win can help the psyche.
• Three months from now (hopefully a season will still be in play), this will be classified as a "quality road win" against a team that will have several NBA players.
Long way to go (which is why practices are still held), but a win in Rupp Arena still is worth something.
