Longhorn Football "Majors"

The majority of it's players are enrolled in Physical Culture and Sports.

I saw someone post on another thread how many other schools players leave school without any solid degree to fall back on or an incomplete degree which we know is all true so I wanted to see what another big time CFB program with a rich academic tradition / pedigree does for their football team. They have 17 OL who get a salary from their collective..

Football Film Analysis: Why Notre Dame's passing game excelled against Wake Forest

There was a lot to like about what Notre Dame did throwing the football against Wake Forest.

Breaking down what went right:

Recruiting Notre Dame LB commit Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa is a Butkus Award finalist

The Butkus Award named Tuesday its finalists for the college and high school versions of its recognition for the best linebacker in football.

Notre Dame linebacker commit Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa is one of the five high school finalists.

Football Notre Dame proves to be smart choice for DE Javontae Jean-Baptiste

With one or two games left in his Notre Dame career, defensive end Javontae Jean-Baptiste is happy he landed with the Irish after his Ohio State tenure.

“It's been a great experience for me," he said. "A lot of relationships and connections made and just being able to build bonds with people who wanted the same mission as me and wanted to push me as much I wanted to push them to be great. That's just what Notre Dame embodies, so I feel like it was good decision to be here.”

Williams, a four-star recruit out of Buford (Ga.), visited the Irish for the Ohio State game in September. He also camped at Notre Dame in June and received one-on-one instruction from cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens.

In a message to Inside ND Sports after the Ohio State game, Williams said the following:

“The game lived up to the hype! Notre Dame presented themselves well and had nothing to be ashamed about. The fans are 110% behind the team! Their passion was on full display and the between play stoppage interaction was awesome. That far exceeded my expectation.”

Per Rivals, Williams is the No. 9 cornerback and No. 88 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

This season, Williams also visited Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and Tennessee. He has 31 total offers.

Football Questions answered on this week's podcast (11/21)

Thanks to all who submitted questions for me and @Eric Hansen on our latest podcast. These are the questions we answered with timestamps.

37:50 • @NDNavy86: Tim from Kansas City: Sorry in advance for the multipart question but rest assured I have not been drinking, spitting, or lurking about with bare feet in cold and rainy Kansas City. I am dismayed that Taylor Swift was neither at the Chiefs game nor on your aspiring to be viral “Football never sleeps”. Anyhow, I am surprised to see Liafau on the Butkus award semifinalist list. He is very talented but seems frequently out of position. Am I missing something? Is the out of position thing a coaching issue? Any implications for the current GA for a shot at linebackers coach?

43:42 • Babaganoush - @PLACT_ITFDB: Based on PA stats for Hartman at ND & WF, he appeared inefficient. Saturday told a different story. Was it due to WF running zone? If so, didn’t NC ST run more man yet Hartman ran PA quite successfully that game too didn’t he? Were those most balanced outputs by offense vs P5?

49:08 • CharlesWWolfe: Do you think the improved offensive line play has more to do with a reshuffled five, or just facing Wake Forest?

51:10 • @DanQuinlin: Offensive line is a unique position group, building a group bond over many years. What would you look for if we take one from the portal? The Marshall All-American from a few years ago didn’t really make an impact over guys that were already on the roster. Thanks.

54:30 • @MikeDevoy1: Assuming Billy Schrauth plays well in the next two games and in spring practice, and Rocco fully recovers by fall, does Coach Rudolph look at moving Pat Coogan back to center as the starter there?

57:10 • @ldlgoirish: First a shout out to last week's podcast. They are all good but this one was best ever. As a follow up offensive line question taking it to next season, who are the players who will be considered in the top 5 for next year's line? Correll, Fischer, Coogan, Spindler, Kristofic, Baker, Craig & Schrauth all with some starting experience (I tried to list them in experience order) and adding Jagusah & Wagner as the most hyped of the newcomers. Any incoming Joe Alt type freshman to consider? Transfers? Looking at the 2024 schedule I would go with upside and coaching ability to figure it out on the road for the first game vs Texas A & M. I would appreciate your thoughts as always. Will we learn anything on the O line candidates in the Stanford game or bowl game?

1:00:52 • Marie Biafore - @biafore_marie: Of the following, Fisher, Tyree Cross, Mills, Watts, Botello, Bertrand, Kizer, and Liufau, who do you think it is most important that Notre Dame try to bring back? Based on any information you have and just gut feeling which of these players do you predict will at ND next year?

1:03:56 • Marie Biafore - @biafore_marie: Taking into consideration the upcoming games the next two weekends, who are each of you predicting to make the playoffs?

Recruiting Notre Dame football leaves strong impression on 2026 TE JC Anderson

Notre Dame football hosted 2026 tight end JC Anderson on an unofficial visit last Saturday for its win vs. Wake Forest.

Anderson is receiving interest from several Big Ten schools like Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin early in his recruitment. The Mt. Zion (Ill.) High recruit told me he grew up a fan of Notre Dame football. He's also a basketball recruit who grew up watching Big Ten men's basketball.

The 6-foot-7, 230-pound tight end has an early offer from Marshall. As a sophomore, Anderson had 30 receptions for 307 yards and three touchdowns. He went over his visit with Inside ND Sports and discussed the Irish offense, what an offer would mean and more.

On his visit:

"The Notre Dame visit went well and I enjoyed it a lot," Anderson said. "The recruiting staff was very nice and welcoming as were the coaches. My favorite moment would probably be meeting the [offensive coordinator] tight ends coach Gerard Parker."

What he thought about the game:

"The atmosphere was one of the best I’ve seen and I was most impressed with Notre Dame’s running game. During the first half, the tight ends weren’t getting many receptions but I enjoyed watching them be a big part of the running game and blocking downfield."

More on future with Notre Dame:

"I’m definitely looking forward to getting to more games and visits at South Bend. Notre Dame was one of my favorite football teams growing up so an offer from them would be very special."

Anderson expressed interest in returning to visit or camp at Notre Dame, but his basketball schedule takes up his weekends in April, May and July However, Anderson said he's leaning toward playing football rather than basketball in college.
