I Hope I’m Wrong … But

Is that the extent of the analysis on that game? I never read a good explanation.

And the Pats caught so many deflected passes I thought they might have drawn it up in the play.

My understanding is that it is the wind that messes with the passing game. Regular precipitation does not. Am I wrong?
how about a slick ball?
how about wet field or frozen field and slipping and sliding everywhere?

Freeman Confirms New Uniforms For Friday-But Hasn't Seen Them

I actually often think about the gold during the Holtz era. I agree, totally superior to the mustard yellow. Hence the return to glory...heralded by true GOLD!!!

:D
I think the mustard pants have run their course and it's time to go back to gold.

If we're going to try for the white on white stormtrooper look, then it should have been the game before Labor Day.

First time since 11-17-1990 .... do you know what it is?

11-17-1990...know what that is?

When kickoff happens tonight in the 2024 CFB playoff it will mark the first time since 11-17-1990 that a
network different than NBC or affiliated with NBC is broadcasting a ND home game in South Bend.

P.s.
It's always been a reason why ESPN is half surly about ND and lack of conference stuff, etc.
That exclusive irritated them.

Football ***GAME THREAD: Notre Dame 27, Indiana 17 (Final in CFP First Round)***

I've unpacked my belongings extra early in the Notre Dame Stadium press box, so let's get the College Football Playoff version of the game thread rolling for Notre Dame-Indiana.

We will use this game thread as the primary home for game commentary from now until after the game. We have some rules we'll ask you to follow, which will be included below.

If you're not following the rules and do not respond well to reminders, we'll remove you're posting privileges for the rest of the day. We have too much to do today to argue about it during the game. This doesn't happen often as we're pretty lenient in the game thread, but please keep that in mind.

@HotCarNut has disciplinary powers as a moderator. You can argue with him about the game, but do not argue with him about the rules.

Our game thread rules:

1. Use this thread until the end of the game for ongoing game commentary. We'd like to keep the conversation in one place. If something from the game merits a separate conversation of substance, go ahead and start another thread for that topic. When in doubt, post in the game thread.

2. Criticism of decision-making by coaches and players is allowed. But please avoid making it personal. Don't be malicious. Remember, that person's mother could be reading your post. If you cross the line, you'll lose posting privileges for the day.

3. Don't be a doofus. Have some respect for your fellow subscribers.

I Hope I’m Wrong … But

Notre Dame lost to NIU because they didn't show up.
Is that the extent of the analysis on that game? I never read a good explanation.
That 16-13 thriller? I remember all those 5 yard passes to the TE and Patten.

We can do that!
And the Pats caught so many deflected passes I thought they might have drawn it up in the play.
I never mentioned rain. And even if you want to use the argument of "field conditions" it still is not advantageous to pass as opposed to run. It's obvious you never played WR. I played WR in college. It's much harder to execute a passing attack in rain, snow, or lousy field conditions. I have yet to see data from anyone that suggest bad field conditions or bad weather make it more beneficial to pass, as opposed to good weather or good field conditions. And the argument of DBs having to react to WRs who know where they're going is a moot point. That happens regardless of weather. I never heard of any evidence from anyone that knowing where you're going makes you less susceptible to slipping. Ridiculous.
My understanding is that it is the wind that messes with the passing game. Regular precipitation does not. Am I wrong?

Line now 6.5

toughest opponents on NDs 2024 schedule (as per F+) including their talent ranking:

Indiana #9 (talent: 57th)
Texas A&M #14 (talent: 10th)
Louisville #16 (talent: 36th)
USC #22 (talent: 15th)

Georgia in the Sugar Bowl would be the toughest with a #6 F+ ranking and a #2 talent ranking.

Indiana would be a far more 'scarier' opponent if they had a more talented roster. There is maybe only 2 or 3 guys on their entire roster that would start at ND.
