ND nation is not in the dark. The USC head coach openly says he wants the rivalry to end, the USC AD talks around the issue but does NOT proclaim that the rivalry will continue (first two links), and the 2027 football schedule has eleven teams but no Notre Dame (third link).

So yes, I understand what is happening even if you do not. There isn't going to be a public announcement that USC is not longer scheduling ND. They're simply not contracting to put ND on the schedule after 2026.

If we had an 85 man roster that was among the tier 1 we wouldn't need superman at QB.

But ND is looking for a savior/superman QB because the roster overall just isn't good enough. We need a hall of famer to carry the entire roster to national championship relevancy, and if that is the best strategy ND brass has resigned themselves to, we're going to be waiting for a national title for a really long time.

I think its unfair to the QBs we've had come through here who have done a really good job, even way outperformed their prospect-ranking, etc. only to get shat on by irrational fans.

For the one year Jack Coan was a damn good passer. He had an excellent season. Also Clausen was throwing to Tate,Floyd and Rudolph.

If you were a prized WR recruit, highly athletic, fast, great hands, etc....
Every single time the ball is in your hands there's a chance you could score ...even at the D1 level.

Tight ends give us a look. Why? There has been a good tradition with the TE and ND over the years. A TE getting a pass is a much different pass than the playmaking electric WR.

Allow me more of this ridiculous rant...
If you've watched for a few years let me give you a couple glaring examples...
WIMBUSH...and the unknown destination of his passing...could not play in a game against North Carolina. The receivers all had a spring in their step that game. You could see the excitement from those players. Why? They all got a better chance to catch the ball since it would arrive in a general vicinity one can manage.
Purdue game..receivers had that same spring in the step when Angeli came in relief of Riley.
Why? Receivers can now have a better chance to catch a ball a bit more in their vicinity that can be managed.

Kids are still kids. They are attracted to fun. They want to join in on the on the fun.
Oklahoma for years looked like a place for a WR to have the most fun on a football field. Bama of all a sudden becomes a passing team a few years back...
guess what...WR's start showing up. WHy? Have fun. Enjoy themselves playing a sport they love.


Commit to a QB that can throw the ball down the field and you will get better receivers.


P.S.
Our WR coach sucks so it will only go so far. Commit to throwing down the field and fire the WR coach and we might have some better WR's giving us a look.
