Angelli Should be the starter.

You know, I don't know, if that makes a lot of sense. I was in favor of starting Angeli, perhaps hastily and tendentiously, but that was before we absolutely mauled Purdue, when it was more understandable and justifiable So the loss is the loss. We are indeed 2-1 with no margin for error. But after the total dominance of Saturday, where RL was able to comfortably redeem himself, being a total impact guy running the ball his forte, and being very serviceable in the passing game as long as the offense is catered to him sufficiently, I don't see where switching QBs now is the obvious thing to do.

Angeli is a good journeyman level talent. He's probably not a future star, otherwise we wouldn't have sought out a transfer. But he was able to get plenty of 2nd half snaps, once again looked good and capable. And thus is ready to go if RL falters. But I feel like they're going to stick with RL for now. Even though I guess you can still make the same argument that RL is just too flawed, and a QB change would be for the better, as big a deal as that is for a team to do, and even though we just won 66-7. I can't deny that. If anything RL looked weaker than ever throwing the ball.
I hear ya. Thats the thing now. RL looked "awesome" to the media with all of his rushing TD's last week against Purdue. But that isn't going to fly against the better than average defenses that can stop the run. Thats the issue with RL, if he can't push the ball down the field and stretch out defenses, keeping them honest, they can stack the line of scrimmage and shut any type of rushing attack down. I know if I was an opposing D coordinator, i'd play everything 10 yards and in and dare him to throw it over top. Until he can be a threat doing so, there is no reason to play two safeties over the top.

Notre Dame Student-Athlete Services launches 4 For Forever program

Release from Fighting Irish Media:

SOUTH BEND, IN – The University of Notre Dame Athletic Department’s Office of Student-Athlete Services (formerly referred to as the GLD Center), whose mission is to holistically support the student-athlete experience by providing unique opportunities to help them grow personally, lead effectively and prepare for life after graduation, has announced the 4 For Forever program.

The 4 For Forever program will focus on four pillars: Career and Connection, Community and Belonging, Life Skills and Life After Notre Dame.
  • Career and Connection: Showcases the power of the Notre Dame network through mentorship programs, legacy weekends and resume/job search workshops.
  • Community and Belonging: Actively builds a safe and inclusive environment through community service opportunities, the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and connection through various other affinity groups at the University and throughout the local community.
  • Life Skills: Empowers and prepares student-athletes to thrive during their time at Notre Dame and beyond graduation by focusing on financial literacy and well-being development, participation in the Rosenthal Leadership Academy and NIL education.
  • Life After Notre Dame (LAND): A continuation of services for student-athletes to fulfill the 4 for Forever promise. LAND will help with post athletic career transitions, mental wellness, physical healthcare navigation/rehabilitation and emergency assistance along with innovation and entrepreneurship training.
“The change to our name will allow us to better define what our office is here for – providing services to student-athletes,” Senior Associate Athletics Director Jen Vining-Smith said.

“In the ever changing landscape of college athletics, it was important for us to narrow our scope and focus on four main pillars that will help bring to life the 4 for Forever promise. The 4 for Forever Program will provide each student-athlete a minimum of baseline skills in each area of focus and the opportunity to explore each area further if they are motivated to do so.”

Notre Dame Athletics is officially partnering with LAND, an organization focused on supporting former student-athletes in their lives after Notre Dame, as part of the 4 for Forever program launch. The goal of LAND is to coordinate services that are focusing on overcoming the unique challenges of post-athletic transitions. LAND can provide emergency financial assistance, career and entrepreneurship training, mental health navigation and physical help rehabilitation.

“Our collaboration with LAND will greatly benefit the 4 for Forever promise we make to our student-athletes at Notre Dame,” University Vice President and James E. Rohr Director of Athletics Pete Bevacqua said. “Supporting our student-athletes not just during their time on campus, but through their entire lives is fundamental to being part of the Notre Dame family.”

LAND was founded by former Notre Dame football student-athlete Jack Shields and also features former Irish football players Pat Eilers as a founding board member and Dr. Tom Carter III as CEO and President.

“Before the Irish take the field, it’s tradition to hit the “Play like a champion today” sign,” Shields said. “LAND is about extending that for life – play like a champion today – and be equipped to live like a champion tomorrow. Because Notre Dame doesn’t just produce great athletes. It produces great leaders in companies, families and communities.”

Isn’t it pretty self explanatory

see, I don't rate QBs on their won loss stats
only morons do that

For example Clausen had Weis as his coach and his first year the team was horrible. Yes he did have some great WRs to throw to but how good was his O line?

I saw Clausen throw passes into such incredibly tight windows regularly. The stats lie a lot of the time; the Mark 1 Eyeball is the real test
He was the best PASSER I ever saw at ND. Montana was certainly a better QB; but as regards pure passing no one was better

Sources: ACC, Clemson, FSU renew talks on revenue distribution

They don't want to become like the PAC 10, who should have given USC and Oregon more. But for some reason everyone gets the same cut. At least I think that's how it works. And then USC just up and left. And now they're in the motherfckin' Big Ten. Which is obviously insane. And the PAC-10 was a totally awesome conference, and now it's destroyed. That was the first thing that came to my mind when I heard the news, why don't they just let USC have more? So I guess the ACC doesn't want to suffer the same fate, even though Stanford is now a member.

Does ND lead the NCAA in ACL injuries this year?

How can you say that? The only thing that matters is number of injuries total. Quality strength and conditioning will lead to more guys being able to be rolled up on and walk away without anything major. We hired a guy that was fired because of injury issues with the Denver Broncos, and all of a sudden we magically get hit by the injury bug? There's a reason for that.
As a guy who got rolled up many times this is a completely false narrative. It's a normal part of playing in the trenches. Only one of the multiple times I got rolled did it result in lost time. Missed 3 games with a high ankle sprainn in 1990. No strength and conditioning coach on the planet can prevent a high ankle sprain by their approach. We get you don't like the guy but you're not making sense.

Even Lou really only recruited what was supposed to be a great passer once in Ron Powlus.

That was one thing Ara was able to do was find good passers. Theisman, Clements and Montana.

It is arguable that as regards pure passing capability Jimmy Clausen might be the best ND has had in perhaps ever
Powlus was a horrible fit in a Holtz offense. If Powlus doesn't get hurt the success in 93 doesn't happen. Remember the " blarney stone " offense ? Ugh.

Really ? Clausen had a great final season in 2009. He also had a great group to throw to. Compare Coans one year with the group of receivers he had to Clausens 2009 season. I'd say he did just as well with much less talented players to throw to. They could both spin it for sure.

Here's how I would rank our QBs since the start of the BK era:

High P4 level players/borderline stars:

1. Book (3 star)
2. Kizer (4 star)

Above average P4 starters:

3. Golson (low 4 star)

Good P4 level #2 QB/borderline starter:

4. Tommy Rees (3 star)
5. All the 1 year stop gaps post Ian Book including Pyne, Coan, Hartman, etc. (3-4 star)

Injury/performance/etc. derailed their career but still started games:

6. Everybody else

I haven't included Riley Leonard in these rankings as I think the jury is still out on where he ultimately fits in, but I'd be surprised if its above the tier Rees is in but maybe the upside is there for the Golson tier.
The stars don't matter once they hit campus.

Does ND lead the NCAA in ACL injuries this year?

I will take the side of factual evidence the same way everyone on this board did w/ RL's ability to throw a football to someone in blue and gold...you use your tiny brain to always suggest the opposite thinking your smarter than everyone🥱 In the end you will be proven wrong when we lead the nation in season ending injuries for which, this guy was hired to prevent and he will be fired for it AGAIN! CLOWN!! Last thing I'm going to say is I don't care what the reasons are RL can't throw and is the only starting QB in CFB w/ out a td pass thru 3 games! I don't care why we lead the nation in season ending injuries! The only 2 people responsible are RL & Landow!
ND's backup playing just a quarter and a half has more TD passes than the starter. 😂

Does ND lead the NCAA in ACL injuries this year?

That's where you're wrong. As I have said, proper strength and conditioning can lead to players being more resilient and take instances of getting rolled up on better with less risk of serious injury The overall number of injuries at the end of the year will be telling. We are already leading college football with them. And as everyone knows, Landow was fired from the Broncos for this exact reason. This is not a coincidence.
Bullshit.
