When is enough...enough

When does the Camel back break via straw?
When will a slew teams say enough is enough. This entire thing is wrong and we're going our own way. Done with paying for playing.
One team does it then it's suicide.
A group of teams do it then it gets attention.
A bunch of teams do it that makes a difference.

This whole pay to play ordeal has become insanity meets loco meets wild west meets....

"This whole pay to play ordeal has become insanity meets loco meets wild west"

Could not agree with you more! But, as was stated earlier, the toothpaste is not going back in the tube. What was intended to put pocket money in the players pockets quickly escalated to where we are now -- and there are no guardrails to monitor this. The NCAA could have alleviated this a long time ago, but chose not to.

Downfield passing

Coming into the season, I watched a lot of Riley Leonard highlights, and while he did not show a lot of downfield passability, I thought with Denbrock coming in that works change. I’ll take a W all day, but I’m a little disappointed in a quarterback run centered offense.

If the offense can hit two downfield shots a game mixing the QB run with the zone concepts it will be hard to stop this offense
Trust me when I tell you the tone of my text isn't malicious but I'm not sure where your hope is coming from

I appreciate your optimism but
Riley possesses a weak inaccurate arm.
Having one negative trait is still manageable but having both is just impossible to overcome.

We are not a tough team to defend.
Take any team that has a little bit of heart....load the box with defenders and we will lose.
He can't make the defense pay for playing downhill.
NIU...just like Marshall of yesteryear...
They sold out, played downhill, and we looked JV. Amateur hour.

Many coaches are dumb so we will see who has the courage to play that way against us but whoever does will have a very good chance at beating us.

2025 recruiting wr

Our best receiver by far is beaux even when faison is healthy. He’s a high 4 star recruit out of HS and transfer to ND. It’s why it’s important to get talented players, it shows.

Faison is a good wr, need him to get healthy and hopefully he is now. He adds a quickness element no other wr on our team has
Faison is what we NEED to play at the top or have any aspirations of such.

Just being candid here but almost every cfb championship game is impacted drastically, broken wide open, sealed, all happened via explosive big plays.
The crossing route caught for 12-15 yards is taken the distance.

Don't get me wrong it's nice having both and would be even nicer if our starting QB could get them the ball accurately.
Accurate enough to hit the long crossing route in stride possibly allowing a big play...
Accurate enough to take advantage of Beaux' height and ball skills.

Let's agree those are the two best receivers on our team...??... OK?

THEN THIS SUBJECT GETS EVEN MORE PATHETIC CONSIDERING OUR TWO BEST RECEIVERS ARE A LACROSSE PLAYER AND A TRANSFER.

In other words one's first sport isn't even football and the other isn't even our recruited player.
If they were depth players but that's our 1A and 1B....at the WR spit?

Take Purdue off the schedule

It's not so much watering down the schedule as the entire landscape of scheduling has changed with the new 12-team playoff format. The top brands will be steering clear of ND for the same reason that USC is doing it. All schools in the Big Ten or SEC will inherently have much tougher conference schedules in the future with the recent realignment. A team that finishes 2, 3 or 4 in either conference could lose out on a playoff berth if they have a loss to ND.

I know how you domers feel about the USC rivalry but let's face it, Lincoln Riley is doing the smart thing for himself.
Fortunately, it is not Lincoln Riley's decision.

Downfield passing

Throwing downfield would be a lot easier with Alt and Fisher. The OL is a work in progress. Leonard needs to be better as well.

Greathouse needs to catch that deep ball against NIU and Knapp needs to not get blown up on that deep ball to Collins against Purdue. The perception of ND’s passing attack would be a little better if those two balls are completed.
Agreed. There’s a lot that goes into effective downfield passing, and trust between the QB and his OL is near the top in my opinion. Right now, Leonard doesn’t appear to fully trust his OL, and as a result, he is vacating the pocket too early and too often. There are plays where the line has done its job and he needs to trust them and step up into the pocket and let loose; and there are times where the OL has been manhandled or simply misread the defense stunts and there is no pocket. Really hard to separate the play of the QB from the play of the OL, and you can’t overstate the importance of mutual trust. Losing three of our five OL to injury doesn’t help, but we’re fortunate to have our kind of depth. Leonard and the OL are a work in progress.
