If they took a portal QB for next year, both Angeli and Minchey would be gone. The QB room would be back to square zero with maybe better talent than that of Buchner and Pyne. Why would the staff risk the defection of more than half the QB room to bring in another rental.
Why? Because you could argue that a certain rental is better than any 2025 QB they currently have.

We don’t know if the 2025 QB room has a QB that is a title starting QB. It’s unknown.

When thirty (30) plus players

It is what it is but it is getting worse and escalating. Eventually I think it will effect viewership and ratings, especially if large number of players are opting out of bowl games and league championships. They can do what they want; but if the players don't care why should fans?
Even if viewership and ratings are getting worse the real question is will hit the conferences and universities pockets? The TV deals are paying an insane amount of money to CFB. I suspect part of the reason for this is that commercials only get seen during live sporting events or other events such as the award shows or the election. Meaning the supply for TV ads is scarce, as nobody watches TV shows right when they come out. I don't think we're going to see any changes until it hits their pockets. And I'm part of the problem, as I continue to watch football.

Correct, because we missed on the ones we wanted

Loy, Sampson, etc…said we made contact and offers to qbs, but will not be taking one. Writing on the wall, we didn’t land a big fish.

Also self reported.

In Michigan’s case, they want you to believe those 65 people that Stalions paid to go videotape other schools was not known by Harbie…lol

So all those travel expenses, and dressing up as other coaches …and all those videos from those games where Stallions stood beside each coordinator when plays were signaled in …was legit

That’s not fair…it doesn’t fit the narrative the cheaters throw around.

Notre Dame was punished for driving 60 in a 55 mph zone, where the DOT had just changed the speed limit to 65 but hadn't gotten around to changing the signs yet.

I hope ND is not seriously considering picking up Ewers. Freeman recently said there is no plan to go to the portal this year for a QB; I hope that hasn't changed. Ewers is overrated in my eyes. Not big or particularly mobile. Doesn't have a particularly strong arm. Slow to process the field, though he usually makes good decisions. UT fans are mostly clamoring for Arch Manning, though some of that may be the shiny new toy syndrome. It is a near certainty that Manning will start next year, so Ewers will either be playing somewhere else or holding a clipboard in the NFL. There is no way Ewers will go in the first round of the NFL draft, IMO. He can probably make more NIL money than he will get in the NFL next year.

I am a little concerned about CJ Carr's elbow injury. I read he fractured his right elbow during a practice in September and hasn't done much throwing since then. I suppose a fracture is better than a UCL injury, but I don't know enough about elbow fractures to know whether the injury will be a long-term concern. While I like Steve Angeli, he doesn't move the needle for me. Either Carr or Minchey will have to be the man next year.
I don’t know if we offered ewers, but we offered multiple big time wins and they most likely declined, so the staff has elected to move forward with who we have, hence freeman’s words.
