I guess so. And I'm pretty sure the authorities are going to be all over that. They usually are. I was just saying it's not terrorism. Stuff like this happens in America all the time, though this is the first truck rampage I think we've had, unless I'm forgetting, it's pretty easy to forget they've become so commonplace.
Truck rampage, shootout and 4 bombs is not commonplace.

This was a clear act of terror

Deciding which acts of intimidating violence are terrorism and which are not would be a problem. I would rather punish the crime committed, and not complicate things further.

This isn't terrorism. Terrorism is like, organized political radicals, who have an agenda and commit acts of violence and mayhem in hopes of advancing it. Like with 9/11, this is nothing like that. This is just some disturbed dude who has quit on life and is full of rage. Not 'terrorism'.

Get off the forum and read the news. They believe he didn't act alone. Which means it is a terrorist cell.

Somehow I'm not surprised you're in favor of letting silicon valley, and the 'game over for humanity' existential threat of AI as incarnated by inanimate, literally lifeless, soulless, bloodless computers, and so-called killer robots whose advent onto the crime fighting scene is probably inevitable in any case. It couldn't get much more dystopian than that, and I would rather have the odd mass shooting or truck rampage, than a regime of AI overlords and armed quad-copter drones freely stalking our flesh and blood human presence, in the name of safe, predictable, corporate-approved social order and harmony. We're already hyper-monitored online, everything we ever say or type or do. So we'll let China go down that road. In America we're a little hardier than that.

And America doesn't have any best and brightest anymore. We just have the meritocracy. Definitely not the same thing. And you get whatever you get, typically the sons/daughters of the wealthy, who are not at all the best or brightest, nor were their parents. And then just academic grinders and strivers, who are frequently of exceedingly mediocre intellect. I guess when you get to the narrow discipline of computer coding, the cream can still rise to the top. But to what end? The godfather of AI and neural networks warning the public about the distinct possibility of human extinction on account of this AI you want rolled out?

No thanks!
My grandson just graduated from TAMU, and he's pretty bright.
I seen quit a few bright airmen, soldiers, sailors, and MARINES playing some football this years.
I think you are mistaken

FBI is investigating this as an act of terrorism. They said its unlikely he acted alone. IEDs found in car and nearby. There was an ISIS flag found in the car. How can you say with certainty that this wasn't terrorism?
