Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if you have heard or seen any recruit reactions to the big win? I know sometimes you post those on here. Thank you
In other years....I would have worried about the hangover. Not this year. I think NIU provided the antidote for such an event. This team has purposed itself to the place we find ourselves. Injuries are a concern.....but not a hangover.I believe it will be something to keep an eye on. Hopefully Cross and Love in particular, their injuries aren't bad and they can heal up for the game.
I'm just as worried about a "hangover" after this game with UGA. We put our heart and soul into this one as it was a big one for the season and this program. We've all seen those next game hangovers from teams (aka NIU!!!!). But, this coaching staff is a different beast compared to prior staff's that ND went through. They'll have to boys ready to go.
Here we go again so the disparity in talent between the SEC and every one else is because they win championships , of course the NIL has a lot to do with it or maybe coaching and development over a four year period beats portal princess`s. ND was out weighted on the defensive line by over 30 lbs , but dominated. ND had twice the amount of penalty yards especially that BS illegal motion call
: therefore, zero argument from anyone. Gunner did not play a bad game even though he was constantly running for his life from our defensive ends .
Where are the five stars in the portal ND could use DT`s weighing in at 325 LBS basically space eaters.
Savvy will be out in full force in 3...2...1...
As we saw this year injuries occur and the back ups are a need not a want anymore.IrishMike,
Probably my best take is that this OL has developed well and played to its potential, and who can ask more than that. They clearly struggle against good pass rush, and Leonard’s mobility and quick reactions mask the stat sheet in this regard. We struggled against a very big athletic front seven in the run game as well, but one hell of an impressive stat is only one TFL against a defense that feeds off of this.
There are so many variables and unknowns as to next year’s OL. It’s conceivable, and I think probable, that only two players start in the same position: Schrauth and Wagner. Knapp with a full season of experience will be bigger and stronger, and I will be surprised if he’s not starting, somewhere. If Lambert beats him out at LT, that has Knapp competing with Jagasuh for guard or Craig for center. And that’s me assuming that Rocco and Coogan, two starters last night, don’t return.
My pure guess is we start the season with Lambert- Schrauth-Knapp-Jagusah-Wagner. You can just as easily make the argument for Knapp-Schrauth-Craig-Jagusah-Wagner, or Lambert-Schrauth-Craig-Jagusah-Wagner, etc…. And this doesn’t take into account guys like Absher and Pendleton, et al. I personally think any of these iterations has the potential to be elite, and a major improvement over our current OL, especially in pass pro. As Echo often says, what an embarrassment of riches and a great problem to have.
Louisiana Purchase part 2 was not so good!
Careful, the Kelly Circle Jerkers will be out in force with comments like this.
...well he could make a statement today saying he was wrong........that ain't gonna happen....Agree with your last part. But I sincerely believe that Kirby Smart believed at the time he was correct. He was simply wrong.
I agree with this. Also agree with your prior post that he was gracious and complimentary towards ND. Frankly, I can’t stand his sideline theatrics and non stop working the officials, but respected his and post game demeanor and comments.Agree with your last part. But I sincerely believe that Kirby Smart believed at the time he was correct. He was simply wrong.
