Posted this on TOS. I was at the '74 game. Hard to beat the hype before (#1 vs #2) and the
dynasty that was UCLA then (along with 88 game win streak that was
longest in any collegiate sport). And the electricity was magnified by
being at home and the way the drama unfolded, coming back from being
down by 11 with a little over 3min left (in an era of no shot clock and
no 3 point line). But it was a regular season game. We got upset early
in the NCAA tournament. Kentucky has a lot of "awesome team" cred with
its undefeated season thus far and goal of reaching 40 wins. The
significance of making the Final Four for us would be historic, but
would it be remembered as much 40 years from now like the UCLA game? I
say a Kentucky game win would be more significant to the program, but
still don't think it would have the legs to last as long in our
memories. No "88-1" like documentary if it happens. What do you think?
