Why did ND settle for Freeman?

Reality is we probably would have lost sneed and maybe a couple others. BFD. Swarbrick didn’t even interview anyone else he got hijacked by a bunch of teenagers. The difference between freeman‘s demeanor /engagement on the sidelines vs Saban, Lincoln, Sark, Kiffen, Willingham, Fisher—Shaw , is night and day. Marcus is not ready but its not on him, this is on Jack. Most people would take 28m for 5 yrs in a heartbeat and hope for the best. Preseason top 5 with more GR’s and Sr’s on the roster then I can ever remember. And now this

Nope. I don’t blame freeman. I blame Jack. Freeman is nervous, scared, way over his head. He’s looking for someone to help him all thee time bc he has no clue what to do. Jack put himself in a really tough spot bc you cannot just fire a black coach in his first year. It’s not pc and will tarnish the brand. You have to now own it and watch the program fizzle into embarrassment when you know he won’t turn it around.

He's not a coach he's a coordinator, don't care your skin color but if have to hire a black coach get Deion Saunders

ND didn't have to hire a black coach. And the only reason they did, in my strong opinion, is because it was MF. Now is ND happy to be able to hire a black coach, deep in the throes of our woke zeitgeist in this country? Of course! I would definitely say so. But that was just a bonus. The proverbial icing on the cake....

MF is MF, and for the umpteenth time, he's young, handsome, charismatic, possesses undeniably intoxicating personal appeal, both on the superficial level and in a real genuine sense as well..... And it's also true, and I didn't really become aware of this until more recently, that he apparently really has developed quite a strong affection and affinity for ND that appears to be very much sincere, and in his own boyish, innocent way, he really does **GET** Notre Dame.....

And for all those reasons and maybe even more that's why he was hired. And he was/is a bright young coach in terms of his overall resume, and it's not like big programs haven't taken chances on up and comers like him before. But ND definitely could have nevertheless resisted the temptation, and hired a regular veteran coach, which is probably what they should have done. Even though MF is a dreamboat....

Fickell, Campbell, Mark Stoops, Fleck, Fitzgerald, Clawson to name a few, but really anyone not named Marcus Freeman would’ve worked.
You know, you guys are morons who just spout absurdities.

How many times does a coach have to say NO before you realize that he’s not coming to ND ?

The TIMING of Kelly’s resignation precluded coaches from coming to ND, Kelly clearly fooked us.

I thought about Fitzgerald as a viable candidate, but timing doomed us

Keep your weird perversions to yourself.

Summer of George Floyd. That’s why Freeman got the job. Just being real. ND is about being woke and rich.
NOT REMOTELY ACCURATE.

MF WAS THE DEFAULT CHOICE DUE TO THE TIMING OF KELLY’S RESIGNATION

It will be quite something to watch Eddie George march his mighty Tennessee State team into Notre Dame Stadium and leave with the upset next season.

Ease up on Freeman. Most coach`s takes three seasons to get everything in place! Even Saban lost to a division two team his first season at Bama!
And how relevant was Bama the year before he took over? People need to stop comparing apples and oranges. I’m so sick of hearing about Dabo and putting freeman in the same sentence. Helton Is a better comp.

Sorry, but the sun belt conference and every other conference that`s not in the power five are considered division two. Give Freeman a chance!

The Sunbelt Conference is not division 2. They are not considered to be division 2 by any knowledgeable person. Do you actually follow the game?

That’s not a valid analogy because Freeman inherited a highly successful program, ergo there was no need to “rebuild”, only to fine tune and enhance.

Freeman was chosen because he was a favorite of the players at that point. That amounts to winning High School Class President because you are popular. We should have taken the time to take a proven Head Coach. The players want a winner, they would be happy.

Freeman was slated to interview at Duke and Fickell deferred any conversation until after the playoff run.

Swarbrick didn’t want to lose out on his sure thing backup plan and couldn’t wait for Fickell to get ousted by Bama.

Sounds like Fickell has a better moral compass than BK.

How many power five teams have lost to teams outside the power five... How many Louislana-monroe`s has even been ranked? Do you even watch other teams other than your own?

You are the person claiming that the Sunbelt Conference is Division 2. That is false. You don't even know the different divisions in the game.
In answer to your other question, many power 5 schools have lost to schools in non-power five conferences. MANY.

Freeman has coached six games and you`ve already thrown him under the bus. First you build a defense. then you build an offense and all the time you recruit your type of players and teach them your schemes. It usually takes about three to four seasons to see the finished product...sit back and watch!

No, I have done no such thing. I haven't criticized Marcus Freeman at all. Learn how to read.

Ummmm... no they aren't Division 2 is Division 2. You really think Grand Valley could beat North Dakota State? And the Sun Belt? Don't insult them. ND would be in like 3rd place in the Sun Belt right now.

Did he change the scheme from the one he ran as DC? What changes did he make?
