It comes down to what the competition is. He had a good stint at UGA as DC, not so good at Auburn. But he was also an NFL vet, so you had to contend with that competition too. IMHO, he belongs in the NFL. He doesn't really like to recruit, and he needs more than 20 hours a week to get his defense mastered.
I think that is a good assessment of BVG. Pro all the way. Too much time commitment for his guys to succeed in college. Plus it eliminates most underclassmen because of experience. It leads to Schmidt over Morgan.
