if not, then trash the other teams as mercenaries! win win!If we get necessary help then yes!
I think it puts even more emphasis on your program's scouting department. There were 3K players in the transfer portal last year and probably even more this season. With good scouting you can really use the portal to beef up your roster/patch up any holes. It also has got to be great for coaches/program culture. Instead of a guy sitting around sulking -- bringing down team morale -- he can just leave with no penalty. Should have been this way from the get go.It’s like having a third signing day! Makes being a college football fan even better.

Bloviation at its finestI tend to be in favor of more, not less choices for college athletes. The Transfer Portal does provide this, so I like it. But in ND’s case I expect the Academic faculties to be stubborn in their refusal to allow potential undergraduate transfers the credits they need to enter ND’s hallowed halls. After all, ND sees herself as sine que non in college academics, like a fine wine now threatened by the addition of hardy but lower quality grapes.
There is a solution of course based on equivalence, but pride goeth before the fall season. And old prejudices will make themselves felt.
Interesting times.
Been that way for decades. Follow the money.It emphasizes the fact that college sports are not about being in college and getting an education that most others can't afford.

Really ?It’s like having a third signing day! Makes being a college football fan even better.
Really ?
So if it results in ND NOT being able to field a competitive team, you’re okay with that ?
Doesn't make it right. If fact, it makes it worse.Been that way for decades. Follow the money.

The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,

1,000 % CORRECT !I couldn't agree more. ND is an academic institution first and foremost. Anyone who believes that "old prejudices will make themselves felt" because ND won't swing open the door for transfers fails to understand ND's main mission.
As for ND:Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
Coach Mack Brown in North Carolina openly complaining about it. Players getting poached by other schools with cash. How is any of this amateur sports? The coach said he has players being told we give you x y & z. Isn’t that a free agent in the NFL.Build a culture on transients? Ever been to Vegas?
Great cultures are built on tough times, resilience and overcoming those obstacles- not rainbows and unicorns and bailing when the road gets tough

I get emails from Anthony travel for football. I called them & said the game is done. Mayer & others will bail. Why would I go to that game without the marquee players? It’s BCS or bust
