I say the continued inability to give our punt returner time to field it. Wanted to see what CJ could do

Besides the injuries was the false starts by the oline and the missed 45 yard FG by Yoon and the long pass completion in the 3rd quarter.

False starts hopefully can be fixed. Loss of Folston is a big blow, but hopefully the injury isn't too serious. We shouldn't need him next week against Virginia, so if he needs some healing time, he can get it.

I can live with one big play given up for an entire game. Now, if those start multiplying, that's when we can start being concerned.

Mediocre ST performance------bad return game.

Newsome OOB on a kickoff---------failed to drop any punts inside the 10 .

Missed FG---------whole operation needs to get better.

Folston getting hurt. Asking a true Frosh to nail a 45 yard FG in his 1st college game is tough, Punt returning is difficult, Elliot on OSU fumbled a punt last night and had virtually zero return yards. And they are the best team in the country and Urban Meyer coaches the Special Teams, Directional punting and coverage has become so good in college it's difficult to break returns.

The false starts and missed tackles are just the product of first game jitters and no pre season game to clean up the mistakes. Overall it was an A- peformance

Worst part? Knowing that no matter how good the Irish played there would be threads like this one...j/k

Defensively, a couple of missed tackles by the safeties.

Offensively, there were a couple times a Texas defenser came through unaccounted for. Zaire had a couple miss-reads on running plays and the false starts. Not much went wrong in this game and we didn't wast any timeouts for once!

CJ not having a chance to return a punt had more to do with Texas having
a decent punter, than with ND blocking poorly. The punts were all mostly
very high and covered well. If you have defenders with a pulse, it's pretty
hard to get any kind of return under those conditions.

Having a decent punter was Texas' only weapon.

you people are tough. mercy.

The guy asked the worst part about the game and I answered. I even made it a point to say that not much went wrong. *shrug*

Fortunately, most of us respond to this thread in the right mind-set and in the right spirit. IIt should not have to be -- as The Donald says " politically correct" Why not have a thread that asks what went wrong? So much went right, it is appropriate to voice opinion on the very few things that did not go right. Sure, Injuries, punt return game and other stuff. Interesting to see viewpoints. We all love our Irish Don't make it out to be any other way Just jawing here Talking football, yeah.
