Steve, I must respectfully disagree - I'm sure there are some Americans as there are some Canadians who can be categorized as to your description - I do not believe Americans generally fall into those categories.
I have MANY American friends who are wonderful people - I think the overwhelming majority of my fellow countrymen would agree.

Notre Dame should decline to accept a minor bowl game this year. There is no upside whatsoever. Its easy to do if the announcement is made in advance that Notre Dame will not participate in a bowl game...discouraging offers.. This team does not need the "bowl game experience". This team needs a new head coach.
Let's assume that Kelly is going to return next season. You don't think this team can use the extra practice time?
Finebaum was on Mike & Mike this morning and discussed his rant. He said he was upset and shouldn't have called BK a miserable person, but he stuck to his central premise that ND can and should do better when hiring a representative of the university.

Kelly won't go away till 12/2017. The only thing that makes that thought worse is the inevitable return of the assigned 'minions' and the reunion of the mean girls.

This particular team has little upside to winning a minor bowl game....and unfortunately, they are very capable of losing that minor bowl game...to another Duke or NC State. So the downside puts another dinger on the once great reputation of Notre Dame football. It would send the statement that the university does not support the product being produced by the athletic department. Will that happen? No. But this is a free board...and you paid nothing for my input.
The NFL problem that might keep Kelly out is that he does not have a history of being open to hiring the best assistants available but preferring to hire from his personal cliche. It has hurt him at ND. No NFL owner or GM will give him the kind of autonomy he would want.
