Not sure what tonight will look like but about 20:1 Irish vs byu fans at the Venetian

BYU sounded much louder on tv, those in attendance agreed although being outnumbered 60/40.

Las Vegas isn’t really a destination spot for Mormons !

It sounded loud to me the entire time. What a great venue and they announced it as a sell out.

The vendors at the game where yelling “cold Irish beer and cold Mormon water”. Haha.
It sounded loud to me too. Nd fans sounded louder on tv

ND crowed noise was surprisingly disappointing. BYU fans were outnumbered by at least 60:40, probably closer to 70:30. ND fans appeared to sit on their hands until late in the 4th qtr. By the way, the PA system in that stadium is unbelievably horrible! Announcers were impossible to understand all night.

During Friday and Saturday morning there were very few BYU fans on the strip or in the hotels. Even after the game, when the mass of fans were walking back to hotels, there were few BYU people. Nevertheless, I was surprised to see the solid block of BYU fans siting together in the one end zone, dressed pretty much the same and well organized. My opinion is that many of their fans came by rented busses from Utah (about six hours away) and went back the same way. They may also have had a more solid connection to the university. Many of the Notre Dame's broad base of fans most often indicate their support by their choice of clothing, but are not as well organized or more directly attached to the university in order to "make some noise". The noise from Notre Dame fans in the stadium was more than adequate, the support shown on the street was terrific.

LDS is the 3rd most popular religion in Vegas area after Catholicism and Atheism.

i noticed the same thing. There was a massive line of “Provo” busses outside the stadium as you walked to the bridge.

It was just so cool to see ND gear in every casino, restaurant and walking down the strip. It seemed like the entire city for that day was Irish fans. I hope they do that venue again.

As far as alum vs fan, ND cranks out a whopping 2k alumni a year. OSU would be in the 20k range. It takes ND 10 years to generate the same amount of alums as OSU does in 1 year. It’s amazing ND has the fan base it does. It’s because they are independent, affiliate with a religion and being Irish.

Actually wrong. Mormons founded Vegas. They have a temple there and a significant population. Which I found out by actually talking to BYU fans at the game.

"The history of the Las Vegas Mormon Fort began in 1855 when Brigham Young, the leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Salt Lake City selected 30 men to establish a mission in the Las Vegas Valley."

SLC is 6 hours away but St. George is 90 minutes.

Curious to know if you attended the game in person. Sounds as though you did, but your post isn't entirely clear on that point.

The crowd sounded like it was into the game on the NBC telecast; I didn't think the crowd sounded subdued at all. And from several accounts I have read about the game, the ND sports writers who attended the game said this was hands down the best Shamrock Series venue yet, and there is no close second. They were all for making Las Vegas a regular site for the games if we are going to continue with the Shamrock Series. I thought the team seemed pretty amped up, too, for the game. I enjoyed seeing the energy level they brought to the game.

I was there. 25 yard line, lower level, row 30 on the byu sideline. The entire game was loud. Byu fans brought it when they needed it but it was definitely louder when ND needed it.
Everyone I spoke with said the same thing…Vegas needs to be the new home of the shamrock series. Just bring in a different opponent every year. Stayed at Delano/Mandalay Bay, easy 10 minute walk acrosss I15 to the stadium. The amount of fans sporting ND gear in the hotel/casino was epic. Felt great to be around so many ND fans.

Yes, I was there. I don’t know anyone who would say the stadium was better than AT&T in Dallas. AT&T is better hands down. Not even close.

No. I was reading something about best stadiums in the NFL. Allegiant was 4th I believe. SOFI Jerry World and the stadium in San Fran were ranked as top 3 I believe.

The Vikings stadium is very impressive

And your room was free due to decades of loyal slot play?
