Was listening to sports talk in Seattle the other day. UW football was being discussed. "They are loaded. Secondary will be one of the best in the nation". And so on. They have been better each year under Peterson, and not once have they out recruited ND, but their players develop. Contrast that to the inconsistent 7 years of Kelly. Thinking of the era of Ara. Every year ND would be found somewhere in the pre-season top 10; sometimes #1. Now, they can be found in the "also ranked" footnote at the bottom. So, Peterson can build a powerhouse at UW with consistently less recruiting talent, which he also did at Boise State; and the Irish??? Well, we all know the answer.

Your point ? Peterson was never interested in ND. Great coach and a west coast guy.

Another post alluding to the idea that because 1 in 128 FBS schools was able to make it to the FBS playoff -- with 2 & 3 star players -- ND should be able to do it as well.

There's a reason that the best recruited teams are in the playoff discussion year in and year out .. and that programs like UW or MSU might luck into a BCS bowl/playoff appearance once in a decade.

ND shouldn't have to rely on luck .. ND has the resources to recruit with the rest of the big brand blue blood programs out there .. they simply are not. And it DRASTICALLY reduces their chances of making it to -- and winning -- the national championship.

The point is echo is that your boy bk is not very good (59-31). Peterson is one of the best coaches out there. How in the hell do you know he will never be interested? Do you have some insight from the leaders of your Pop Warner league?

Oregon under Chip Kelly never came close to landing a number one recruiting class, yet they play for an NC and came within a field goal of winning. They would land a couple 5 stars RB's or athletes, but a large number for f guys were 3 stars. They too were in a state with little hometown talent.

Simple. Have you not been paying attention over the years ? You really do type without a coherent thought don't you ?

This is not close to accurate. At the collegiate level coaching makes a huge difference.

Kelly sucks

How did Savanna win at MSU? Meyer at Bowling green and Utah? Teams that historically underperform are made great by a coach

ND before Area in late fifties to 63

ND before Lou.

Get some brain cells and put this to rest. Recruiting matters but not as much as a great coach

Peterson would be on a par with our 4 great coaches. Kelly will never come close to that

No, they do not. ND's facilities aren't that good, the Midwest weather is a huge factor, and the academics.

ND will never be in the same league as USC, Texas, Florida State, Ohio State, and Bama.

I must disagree TOMMY. "ND will never be in the same league as..." ND is upgrading their facilities. The last time I checked Ohio State's weather isn't much different than ND's. ND beat USC and TX 2 years ago. ND lost to FSU at the end of the game due to a penalty on a play that was very close to the same, non called play, that Clemson beat AL. Also, ND played Clemson off their feet at Clemson a couple of years ago. Don't short change the IRISH.
