If UT wins, that helps ND's SOS. They'll also be a little more motivated to beat Baylor next week to make a bowl game. Baylor is still a theat to jump ND if they beat TCU.

That also makes OU's SOS better though and their loss look a little more respectable.

If UT loses, that weakens ND's SOS albeit by a small margin. It makes OU's loss look even worse, but I don't think the committee is weight the losses that heavily.

I'll probably root for Tech.

Root for Texas. The result of the game has no impact on Oklahoma's SOS, since they've played both teams.

Any team that loses to a team with a losing record has no right playing for the national championship - no way

Go Ok State !!

The game is actually tomorrow. My bad. I jumped the gun.

Mbd, I hear what you're saying. I'm just using some wishful thinking in that hopefully UT losing makes OU's loss look worse. I doubt the committee cares about that though.

I think you are right 44. The UT loss now history as bad as it was. But even if OU beats Ostate, not easy, still up in the air. If Notre Dame beats Stanford and MSU/Iowa in the Big 12 championship last two spots will go down to the wire.

I doubt it really matters. That committee blows a lot of smoke. Just two weeks back everyone on ESPN and their mom plus committee was leading us to believe that one loss big 12 team would be left out over ND because of sos. Remember when Big 12's out of conference schedule was extremely bad and they had scheduled a lot of FBS schools.

Now They are saying that even one loss Baylor/Oklahoma State would leap frog ND should both win out. Looks like its no win situation for ND. ND most likely would have to go unbeaten every year to be considered.

This freaking committee has a memory of a gold fish. What happened to things like

Losing earlier in the season hurts less than late?
Oklahoma lost to really bad Texas team
Oklahoma beat both Baylor and TCU (by 1 point) without their Starting QB's

Michigan State barely escaped against Purdue and played bad against rutgers... so if ND's close wins to BC and Wake are considered bad why aren't Michigan State's games against Rutgers and Purdue measured the same way?
Michigan state lost to really bad Nebraska team and yet jumped from 9 to 5? come on..

Similarly Iowa barely escaped against Minny, Indiana, Pitt, Illinois.... Yet their close calls don't hurt them? (at least one could maybe lenient here because at least they are unbeaten)

Since strength of schedule includes not only opponents but also opponents' opponents, we are better off if tech wins. This is because Texas, as a member of the big 12, plays more of Oklahoma's opponents than our opponents. Got it?

If Texas wins, it improves our SOS. And if they won their last 2 (will be tough since their last game is @ Baylor), they'd become bowl-eligible, so we'd have another win over a bowl team.

The system is a complete farce

You were right the first time. Game is at Austin tonight. I see a Texas win as a push. Both ND and OU helped a little, and it's clear now that the committee isn't taking either of our Texas games under consideration
