not being mentioned much. What are your thoughts? Former ND quarterback. National Champion. Not sure he'd be interested, but he's kind of ND's Jim Harbaugh.

Geeze, everyone can what if this to death. No matter the suggestion including saban and Meyer...

There is zero guarantee they'll have the same success here.

I find it very amusing Washington huskies are having a decent year so now Peterson is the next Bryant, Leahy, paterno, rolled into one.

Oh and he'll drop what he's doing to cone here too.

Why not? He doesn't quite have Harbaugh's track record as a head coach, but he has a good resume. Although other than 4 years as QB coach at ND, the rest of his coaching career has been in the NFL.

Clements has supposedly been very interested in the past. I've read that Joe Montana actively campaigned to get him hired, but the lack of HC experience hurt him. That'd make me nervous too.

I've never met the guy, so this is pure hersay, but supposedly he has the personality of cinder block. A great tactician and game planner, not a head coach and definitely not a recruiter.

This.

Honestily, I like Greg Schiano, always have since he was at Rutgers. He also has a proven track record in New Jersey and Florida with recruiting. Not mention he also has already failed miserably in the NFL. So, it would be very unlikely that he would leave for the NFL again.

Really? So apparently you would say hanging with Saban is a total siesta.

They all have success by different means. Rah rah, in game tactics, whatever the case it's not how you get it done but if.

Sincerely,
Bill Belichick

Huh? Bill Belichick doesn't have to compete with 50 other schools for every top recruit. Closing with recruits is one of the main roles of a head coach in college, and you can't have someone stand in for you in that role.

See I figured you would avoid the Saban reference or other coaches for that matter that that apparently aren't social butterflies yet have succeeded.

By your comment Clement can't have success because he's too dull.

Saban exists in one of the easiest recruiting situations in the country. And he has always been a great recruiter anyway. But he's more an exception to the rule.

I am just reporting what I have been told. He would not have the personality or the enthusiasm to be an effective recruiter. And if you can't recruit, you are not ND head coach material.

ND needs a coach with some fire and energy. This program is in the toilet right now. According to ndsmc that is no big deal. Morons will keep the money streaming in while the losses pile up because it's an academics first school!!!!!

Pretty much common knowledge.

People that know Saban personally say he's a great guy. I think the façade he puts on for the media is what most people think he is all the time.

Petersen has been a top 10 coach in CFB for the last decade, it has nothing to do with Washington's success, he was mentioned as a desirable option for a ton of top jobs recently.

He was interviewed befor

I would have the same exact attitude towards the media. Most have hidden agendas and are looking for the next big gotcha piece. The most they would get out of me is the middle finger. And like Saban, I am one gentle soul. I do have a liking for Eric Hansen. I find him to be a genuine guy.
