I dubbed Thursday the "Temple Gibbs and James Banks Show," with a little Yoeli Childs, D.J. Harvey and Alex Barcello mixed in.

Gibbs, the Notre Dame senior verbal guard commit from West Orange (N.J.) Seton Hall Prep, combined for 26 points in his two games, which I filmed.

Gibbs went 6 of 10 from the field and 2 of 6 on three-pointers for 16 points, and he brought the A game in a 77-70 win. He hit shots, drove to the rim and was active. He kind of plays in a old school kind of way.

Gibbs' jumper wasn't falling in the second game, but he still found a way to get 10 points on 5 of 9 shooting, which led his team in scoring. All that talent on the Hawks, and they still lost 66-48 to the Rockets, which had junior wing D.J. Harvey, who ND just offered this week.

Gibbs finishes well in traffic, and had a couple of reverse layups. He has quick hands on defense. He plays off the ball, but Notre Dame is committed to make him the point guard of the future.

Banks looks the part and got a dunk, but didn't get many touches. He had two points, five rebounds and two blocks in the first game.

The 6-10, 230-pound Banks outplayed his previous showing in the nightcap. He made both field-goal attempts and went 2 of 5 at the line for six points, and had two blocks. He was much more aggressive as evidenced by the five free-throw attempts, and he even looked confident in draining a 19-footer from the top of the key.

The 6-7, 230-pound Childs from South Jordan (Utah) Bingham is a rugged power forward, that is similar to ND sophomore power forward Bonzie Colson in many ways. I think Colson is more skilled, but Childs might be more bouncy around the rim. Childs played better in the first game of the day than the second, and he'll get a hard look by the Fighting Irish coaches during the July evaluation period.

Childs had six points, two rebounds, two blocks and two steals in the first game. Childs went a modest 2 of 4 form the field for four points, but added seven rebounds in the second. He also got charged with five turnovers.

Harvey, who attends Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic, was just so-so with four points on 2 of 4 shooting, plus four rebounds and four assists. He has always had good size for the wing and plus athleticism. He'll still need to work on his outside shooting.

Got two more looks at junior point guard Alex Barcello of Tempe (Ariz.) Corona del Sol. Barcello went 2 of 8 from the field in the first game for five points and two rebounds.

Barcello went 2 of 4 from the field and 1 of 3 on 3-pointers en route to five points in 14 minutes in a 73-72 win in the second game. This camp is probably a good learning experience for Barcello.

Barret Benson from Willowbrook (Ill.) Hinsdale South in the western suburbs of Chicago didn't do much and had two points and two rebounds. He's a big body in the paint, but I'd have to see more from him to get the full essence of his game. Notre Dame has evaluated him but haven't offered the senior center.

Not much on the recruiting front since interviews continue to be problematic with the new media relations firm the NBPA has hired. Combo guard Frank Jackson of Highland (Utah) Lone Peak will unofficially visit Maryland and Duke coming up. He didn't mince words in saying that Notre Dame is on the fringe of his list.
