threatening student athletes for onfield mistakes is wrong

I posted in another that I was listening to college sports channel on Sirius xm and the two hosts for that hour or two were calling out all of the tons of Michigan fans that were threatening the punter on social media for his mistake and calling them scumbags. as much as I hate Michigan I feel so bad for the punter as no 18 or 19 yr old should have to deal with threats like this kid is. people need to realize that these are just kids and kids make mistakes. in fact no sports player period needs to be threatened over a mistake made in any kind of game. i'm sure Michigan fans aren't the only college fan base to do this but this is just sad to see when these players are just still kids

I know I know this generation couldn't survive without face book and such ....
But I'm willing to bet Michigan has its own department of sorts to handle idiocy PR stuff and help these kids deal with stuff like that.

Tommy Rees was a guest host on one of official ND post game shows last season and he said that he would get threats during his days at ND. At first it bothered him but he just learned to ignore it. There are some ND fans who are just as ignorant as some in other fan bases.

This is the kind of stuff that is a result of internet anonymity. Let folks have to put who they really are in their profiles, and watch this stuff disappear quickly.

of course its completely wrong and completely unhealthy and a statement about peoples' need to get a life. Its just one step more extreme than many on this board who insult and question the effort of our fine young student athletes.

You have a whole fan base in FSU accepting a rapist, a girlfriend beater, robbing, stealing and worse and blaming the media for telling the truth.

It is indeed terrible. I have seen it reported that 90% are teenagers. Those kids should permanently lose their social media privileges.

The good news is, that for every one idiot out there, O'Neill is getting the support of 100s. You win as a team and lose as a team.

there is really no internet anonimity. The persons making threats can be identified. The mods here can identify IP addresses if they have need.
If a threat is made and genuine the authorities can trace the IP using NTP's

On this board, we have our own psychopath(s); one that got attention and concern from the mods.
We have a poster (or a related group) that has created in excess of 30 ID's. (not Argie)
If there was moderation here the vulgarities and foul behavior would cease and the forum devoid of the bores would return to the purpose intended.
