just read a piece on Defensive end Thomas Booker. Big kid. 6'4-6'5, 290ish. I saw some film . Very fluid and agile for someone his size. ND is in the mix with Stanford. Many of the big programs have offered as well. I read academics are very important. So much so that even Ivy league schools are getting a look. As of now though it seems ND/ Stanford are the front runners. Does anyone out there have any other info on this player? Seems like he is exactly what the Irish are looking for. Really smart kid with exceptional athletic skills. Hard to find that combo in abundance. When they have a real shot at this type of recruit they really need to close the deal.

He would be a great pick up. We were considered the heavy lean, but reports persisted that he really wanted a Stanford offer, and was holding out for one. The offer came sooner than lots of folks expected, and speculation was rampant that he was going to jump at the opportunity. That was a couple months ago, and he remains publicly uncommitted. Seeing this through my rose colored ND lens, but the fact he didn't commit to Stanford in short order is a positive development for us. I think he is scheduled for an OV for one of our premier home games. The staff has been high on him all year. A really good talent with high academic demands and expectations. A great fit.

Definitely a top target for a long time.
Can't hurt that Gilman had two stars that played well at ND with Ambrose Wooden and Victor Ambiamiri.
Hopefully, a great home win on his offical visit seals the deal.

I don't follow what's happening at other schools, but some of the preseason attention being thrown at ND players is both interesting and encouraging. D Hayes in top fifteen breakout list; Nelson preseason All American; McGlinchy projected top three OT MFL draft; Wimbush 8th most intriguing QB; Tillery #7 DT NFL draft projection; and maybe a few I forgot. For a team that went 4-8 last year, some nice attention coming our players way.

Booker is OV during the opening game against Temple. They wanted him at ND with all the attention on him.

He has two teammates who are at Stanford & spent last summer there, so Stanford seemed to be his obvious choice once they offered, but is still uncommitted. So ND is still in it.
He publicly said Stanford was his dream offer, yet hasn't committed, so ND still has a chance. Some believe that ND is making a strong push, thus he is still uncommitted.

He has position flexibility as well. He could be a SDE or a 3T. We have Jayson Ademilola at 3T this class and I have read the Ja'mion has skills that could be used there there as well. SDE has Justin Ademilola so that is where I expect him to land.

Very Issac Rochell or Jay Hayes like. Extremely strong against the run at 5 Tech. Flexibility to move down inside to to 3 Tech and can add a pass rush dimension against the run on the interior. Swing players like Booker are extremely valuable for depth and to be able to present multiple fronts with a variety of personnel.

When you combine Booker's position flexibility, skill set, his academic portfolio, maturity and his intangibles, you have a perfect fit for a Notre Dame or Stanford. So even if ND is set at SDE and DT in this cycle, this is a fit that you can't pass up.
