More of his "it's all about me" arrogance. This from the coach who as recently as last week wasn't going to change anything! Incredible how everything is now "under further review" except him. Hopefully, this is a self serving smoke screen and he, in the eyes of the decision makers, has failed "double secret probation" and is gone.
that statement is simply legal ammo to reinforce settlement talks($$), so-as not to conflict with non-compete clauses....means nothing outside of that.
Most likely recruits want to know his intentions or at least some certainty in an uncertain situation.
I get that....but they might actually not be his intentions....and their high school mentors could explain that to them...so.....
Yes, that's Kelly's position, not the University's. Maybe the statement is heartfelt and Kelly has every desire to return, or maybe it's posturing. We need to hear from Jack now that the season is over, and I expect a negotiated exit for Kelly. We should know today or certainly within the week.

He said the exact same thing the week before the NC game. Then within 24 hours after the game he's in Philly discussing a HC ing job he just said he would never have an interest in. Look, this is legal positioning prior to a buy out talk. I believe both sides (ND and Kelly) have informally discussed this 4 -5 games ago. This is pretty much a done deal, it's just how the parting concludes that works for both sides. You can read Kelly's toned down approach and his sideline body language that speaks volumes. He's given up. His advisers have told him, in all probability, to recalibrate his career before another losing season like this mostly destroys his future earning capacity. Both sides know it's time. My suspicion is everyone will know by Tuesday or by the latest Wednesday. Whoever the next coach is, he will inherit a sound platform to build a great program from.
Maybe this is the year for "hopes" to become reality. As noted, we'll know soon - unless the hold up is waiting for the successor to complete thier season and, thus, get it all done at once. Lotsa risk recruiting wise both ways. I much prefer the Larry the Cable Guy approach with Kelly.
Exactly! That's what BK wants and not ,perhaps, the alumni, administration or, if it matters, the fan base. It is a statement, however, he had to make because his self-made mess has left him zero options.

I sure as hell hope that his contract has a contingency that any new job Kelly takes, his buyout will be prorated based on his new salary. If not, we clearly know that Jack is an idiot.
