It was pointed out that over the past two weeks against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Hurricanes, the Irish allowed 237 and 239 yards rushing - and now they take on the best rushing attack in the country in Navy. How can the Irish improve?

"Just we have to have a better attention to detail. Our fits have got to be better. We've got to get off blocks. We've got to get back to that mentality of dominating those one-on-one matchups. You've got to win some matchups. We had guys in position to make plays. We've got to simply make the plays."

Look, they ran -- their first half running attack was one that we felt really comfortable that we should be more effective with. We've simply got to be better in our preparation and coach our guys better, go back and make sure that we're teaching him the fundamentals so we can make the plays necessary.

He speaks like English is his 2nd or 3rd language.

And yet he still puts you to shame.

Well, football coach speak is a language that relatively few speak, and even fewer understand.

I must be missing something. What's your point?

He spoke nothing of the offensive side of the ball where the backside offensive linemen were getting their asses handed to them each and every play -- did the coaches go back and look at how many tackles came from the backside of the play? Cannot tell you how many times the right side of the line was getting beat to the gap

This week is a big test for Kelly and his coaches. Last week was a HUUUUGE disappointment to all of us -- but if anyone had told you a year ago we would have been in the hunt and ranked #8 right now, we would have thought your were crazy! I've been a Kelly fan but I want to see this team win its last three games. If we fall apart I really think ND needs to start thinking about a new direction for the program.

Random thought: That was the first time in Kelly's 8 years that our offense was so ineffective (8 points?!). I think the Chip Long offense does wonders vs. the teams we can overwhelm physically but when we play the Georgias, the Miamis (the USCs when they aren't depleted) we are going to need more. Say what you want about Kelly as the OC -- we always scored points. Just wondering if there is a happy medium, going forward -- we're going to need it vs. Stanford and Bowl Opponent?

I agree. Number one rushing offense in the nation with the usual magical triple option scheme, and cut blocking, and fight to the end toughness. This now is a HUGE game for ND and this staff. Right the ship and get a convincing win before heading out to Stanford, or slide to mediocrity!

your post makes no sense whatsoever.

Kelso gets it. Read his post if this is too much for you to figure out on your own.
The question he was answering was about the defense. Why should he talk about the offense in answering a question about the defense.
