The what if game: Kelly beats Bama

Care to put money on that? Add in Kelly's performance with time to prepare for big games. That's a double whammy. Only way this isn't a complete blowout in Alabama's favor is if Saban decides to tap the brakes.
You’ve never had a clue about what Kelly did here. You still don’t understand.

C’mon, Alabama below average ?
Big win for Kelly, but unless he actually wins a championship at LSU it won't mean a thing. LSU measures success by championships, and they won't give him 12 years to do it.

Too bad you didn't bet me, you would have made some money.

All I know is Marcus Freeman has more big wins at ND in his first year than Kelly had in 12.

for the intellectually challenged that claim Alabama is all that this year, when was the last time Alabama had lost two games this early in the season?

Hey Karen, do ever get tired of Brian Kelly dunking in your face? LOL!!!
Fact is Marcus Freeman has more big wins in his first year than Kelly had in 12.

Enjoy your win. I'm sure you'll crawl back under Kelly's desk Monday morning.

According to F+ Alabama was the #3 team in the country/a playoff team, for comparison sake, Clemson was ranked 14th.

Saban has already lost more regular season games this year then all but a handful of years he has coached at Alabama.

What if MF had the same number of wins against the top 5 at ND as BK did in 10 years?

I am actually extraordinarily happy for MF, he was a chance to salvage the season, ND should be heading into the USC at 8-3, and ranked in the Top 20. And after the Stanford game, that seemed farfetched.
He told me when I toured his office He pointed under his desk and said that's SouthFloridaIrush88's spot.
You mean the office tour where Brian Kelly told you he was a married straight man and not interested? That explains SO much Karen!

Adios loser.

1 win separates ND and LSU. ND has played 2, top 4 teams and is 1-1. LSU has not played any top 4 teams but did beat a number 7.

A former coach with 21 vacated wins and 1, top 5 win walked out on ND. I don’t really give a RIP about that a-hole. I wish him the best and the best view of him is in my rear view mirror

it would be great to play them in a bowl.

Yes, but Kelly deserves some credit for this win. Unlike Weis, Kelly left this program in a much better place for Freeman compared to Kelly taking over.

On offense yeah. Defense not so much. But even more concerning was these kids had no idea how to win.
This isn't true. We have more players now on D but we still had talent on D then

Manti Teo, Harrison Smith are better than anyone we have right now

But Harrison, Manti, KLM, Walls, and Blanton were pros

Those were some very good to great players yeah. But I'd still argue that the collective talent was much better with Freeman taking over Kelly compared to Kelly taking over Weis.

CBK is doing great at LSU. He left Notre Dame a strong program, righting a ship that was adrift for decades. I wish him continued success with the Tigers.

Freeman seems to now be turning the tide. Making good on what he inherited. And...maybe a possibility to do something special. Today was a BIG win against Clemson.

DP is still a weak QB. The passing game remains suspect. But the Irish seem to have a legitimate power running game with 3 backs and, hopefully, elite OL. My how fortunates can change in 1 season.

I also think Freeman is finding himself. I have to believe he played a role in Rees emphasizing the power game. Regardless, the team looked much more composed and disciplined the last few games. Evolution and progression.

Marcus might defy the odds and score success. With no prior head coaching experience, it never looked promising. But...we have lots to dream about. Yes, even considering Marshall and Stanford.

ND played well today. I'm not saying the Irish are elite, because clearly they're not. But suddenly they look like they can aspire to be...if Freeman can get the players he needs.

We speak a lot about the winds of change in college football. Let's see where ND winds up regarding NIL and transfers. Academic accommodation.

Think big: what if the Irish had a real QB and elite receivers to complement what we see now in the rest of the team? I'll take winning the rest of the season as a many steps in a better outcome...dreaming of the aforementioned stacking of 4 and 5 stars.

It's closer than I originally thought

As a whole, theres more talent now. But Kelly had some real high end talent to work with

But CBK still inherited a busted program. Freeman inherited a strong program.

Doesn't matter. Freeman is getting better. What I saw today might be a turning point...and I am thinking Freeman can be at least as successful as CBK over time...maybe even more so?

It will depend on getting the best players, so that all aspects of the team are strong. I'm hoping.

If he isn't better, that would be a huge disappointment

If Marcus gets the players, he can be. Whatever the differences between CBK and Freeman, I think they're close enough where one won't exceed the other in achievement at ND unless they get the very best players.

I won't be surprised if CBK wins a NC at LSU, as he couldn't as ND because of a more limited player pool. Freeman will have to deal with the same...but like I said, if he gets that, watch out!

I just laugh at those like you. Really.
CBK lost two games he should not have this year and faced a Alabama team CLEARLY below Saban's average.
Go peddle your prejudice elsewhere

Nah, I’ve been rooting too long for Notre Dame to go gently into the night. By all means laugh about it. Laugh at me if you want too.

The Irish played well and won against a decent Clemson team. I’m happy.

🙂

I’m happy for CBK too.
