The solution to "Meaningless Bowl Games"

Keep the bowl games. Love watching all the games starting in mid December. I enjoy watching all of the bowl games leading up to the championship games!
You watch all 42 bowl games? Doubt it. They should cut them down to like 15 bowl games. Top 30 teams have a postseason and that's it.

I understand

But if you have a disappointing season chances are you’re not getting invited to a bowl
I would call 6-6 disappointing, yet there are teams getting invites at 6-6. 84 teams of 130 are going bowling. Welcome to the participation era of college football.

They are bowls in name only. These 'bowls' are created by ESPN and the host city plays only a nominal role. The 'payout' is in bowl tickets that the school struggles to give away.

If more players opt out of bowls, unless you are in the playoff what is the point of the regular season? Players can do what they want but fan participatipn will wane eventually.

People complaining about bowl games are not the players. Maybe they enjoy all that goes into them. If you don’t like the games watch something else.

My sister is a USC season ticket holder, and USC isn’t struggling to sell tickets to USC-TAM in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Bully for them. Two top programs playing in a nearby tourist city on a Friday when many are on vacation.

Play an NIT style tournament with the other bowls like Citrus and Gator.
Yeah and listen to Bama fans trying to make this like a national championship because of course, they were robbed by the cfpc of the real one. bwaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Irishherb, when you consider how so very few players get into the NFL, you have to think that they’re playing for their school
True, a few get in. But seems like a lot of them have dreams of making it. How else do you explain the sit outs, entering the transfer portal, etc.

I can't remember the name, but I do remember reading that back during the Leahy years there was a player on the ND team who got very little playing time (but he was playing for the team he loved). When he found out that he could get an extra year of eligibility due to having not played at all or only for a few plays in one of his years, he asked coach if he should enroll for another year so he could play. Leahy's response was "Son if you really want to play, you should consider the NFL" ... he did, was an All-Pro, and received several honors playing in the NFL.
