Because ND had only 55 yards rushing on 37 carries vs. Georgia my guess is opponents will do everything they can to stuff the run and force ND to throw. Georgia had 12 penalties for 126 yards and those penalties gave ND many of their 3rd down conversions. Therefore, any team that can avoid the horrendous number of penalties that Georgia had, has a reasonable chance of forcing the Irish to punt.

The other thing is ND opponents need to work on directional punting in order to keep the Irish pinned deep in their own territory with little chance of a run back.

Will ND opponents crowd the line and stuff the run? After the Georgia game you would think so. Even ND's lesser opponents will stand a fighting chance if the ND passing game doesn't improve and loosen up the running game.

And they should -- make ND PROVE they can throw it consistently.

If this offense -- especially the "vaunted" offensive line -- is worthy, they will prove it.

Maybe you should send your expert scouting report to BC instead of subtly degrading the Irish here.

Smart...................."subtly degrading" ???

If there is anything inaccurate, documented incorrectly or that you disagree with then by all means let us all know.

Stuff the run and force to throw......... seems to me overwhelmingly obvious!

The only question is, which teams are capable of capitalizing on that strategy?

And will the Cincinnati/Memphis offensive strategy work? Stay tuned!

I think Temple tried to "stuff the run" against the Irish also.
Didn't work out so well for them as it did against Georgia.

Why? Georgia has stud defensive linemen and linebackers. Temple did not.

I'm guessing BC's talent more closely resembles Temple's than it does Georgia's. Maybe a slight upgrade, but nothing the Irish can't overcome.

South Bender...........

Absolutely agree! Seems to me that for BC to have any chance at winning they will have to take chances............and quite often..............and a fair measure of good luck with the ball bouncing their way more often than not.

So, I'm wondering, will we see any: all out blitzes, trick plays, going for it on 4th down, fake field goals, etc. If I were a BC fan or coach I would say hey this is a rivalry and nobody but nobody expects us to win so let's pull out all the stops and let the chips fall where they may..............win the game or go down in flames.............but that's just me! :D

But you didn't acknowledge the big issue from Saturday.....

Georgia could have the steel curtain but when many of occasion they were untouched ......recipe for disaster.

If BC has the same game plan and you damn well better believe they will try bevayse success is copied immediately.....
And ND makes no adjustments which is a BK staple....

This BC game could be a lot tougher than people think.

BC's going down in flames.

"Did you know that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are coming to Chestnut Hill to play the Boston College Eagles Saturday at 3:30 at Alumni Stadium?

Of course not.

Nobody knows.

Shake down the thunder and dropkick me Touchdown Jesus through the goalposts of life. Our region’s abject apathy about this game is the latest demonstration that we are the worst college sports town in America."

Duo the Nole has to be BC's best fanboy of the week!

If the Irish high star recruits can't impose their will on the low star ranked BC defensive personnel, than it's time for us to play in the ivy league. We have 2 nfl 1st round caliber offensive line prospect, it is time they played like it. I expect a blow out by half time and the second strings to play most of the second half to get reps in for next season.

If ND plays against BC with the same defensive intensity as against UGA, ND will win the game going away even if the offense continues to underperform. BC is just not a very good team.

Toby-not so, maybe the guy is making a football point and not trying to degrade anyone, tho from some of your posts maybe a lesson on the game is appropriate.

OK. Show me exactly where I need a lesson. Give me the exact quotes and context where I do not know what I am talking about. The guy is a serial degrader of ND football. Always has been. Always will be. I defy you to show me one thread that he ever started or comment that was ND positive. You got lots of homework so best you get started.

All the OP does is to put thinly-veiled flames on our board.

Not very familiar with the freeboard posters, huh? Duo the Nole is what our former mod, Wax, would call a hair puller. His posts are jabs at ND football. Maybe you should take a look at Duo's past posts before calling out a fellow Irish poster?

He's more focused on how Irish opponents can beat ND rather than what FSU has to do to keep their heads above water.
I don't know who Duo roots for or not. I haven't read anything of his that wasn't true and I haven't read any malicious jabs.

I mean I wish I could say we set the bar in football and bring on everyone and anyone...but BK has made damn sure that's not possible.

Yeah, I can see after reading your posts why good ole Duo the Nole's narrative would be right up your wheelhouse. :D

Not sure how much they lost to graduation, but BC was 8th in the country on defense last year.

If being a realist does all that then I guess so. I suppose I could pretend that things are tremendous in south bend with the football program but everytime I watch the product on display says otherwise.

Also if you've never heard there is this coach on that team named Brian Kelly.

His track record speaks for itself.

Just give it a rest and try to enjoy the game tomorrow.

I cheer and support the Fighting Irish, not the coach.

The season will play out and what will be then will be.

Your opinion (and the rest of the Irish faithful) along with a buck will buy you a cup of coffee.
