I'm an ND fan and I agree with the OP. You really have to evaluate your opponents to see how good we are. So far our opponents have stunk. I don't care how they were last year I want to measure our competition now. Our Dline is very mediocre and makes average QB's look very good. I love our offense even with all the injuries but that dline will not hold up against top teams, none of which we have played to date. I guess you can put me on your ignore list now since anyone who dares question the greatness of our team should be abolished lol.

Multiples are my pet peeve; man up. Plus all you guys are on my Ignore list I have only my group of posters who know how to post (dignity and respect) Guys like Ara, 348, h.bille, Java DIP, KIB, Sal, Boston, few others (sorry if I missed some 'friends').
Those guys are the ones that I respect.
The name calling vulgarities and the 'shills' assigned here are of lil content and are borish.
But, I do welcome you adding me to your ignore list; it streamlines the board for me! It actually eliminates your exhistance. Please do so !

888, no I'm not putting you on ignore. I got a little iggy happy last night because I was proud of the way the team played and got defensive (no pun intended) when I felt people were trashing them. These kids work their tails off year round on and off the field and it offends me (even though it shouldn't) when people put them down. It's one thing to quote facts about how our defense is playing but when people complain when the facts don't back them up is just plain wrong IMO.
^ and 888, be advised ^ IG decides what the 'facts' are; ask yourself do you need a guy so narcissistic who now shows he is blown about by every wind? (Iggy is his name)
I don't think anyone was putting the kids down. All these kids from all the schools work their butts off. I would never trash (ok a couple from FSU and Miami) 18 year old kids nor would I ever boo our team (which sadly I have witnessed). But in terms of evaluating our team we do compare how our competition is playing other teams. This is not new, all the local sports beats were doing this last night. They weren't trashing the players but making honest assessments regarding our SOS up to this point. Next week will be our first true test. Let's go Irish!
ND will always struggle to land 5-star talent along the DL for multiple reasons talked about on this board. That said, this group is a quality group and the best talent/depth I have seen along the DL in years. Also, Tillery will be a star before his time is done at ND IMO.
So I was right....excellent. I have never used the ignore button.....I actually enjoy some of your posts.....feel free to ignore me if it makes your message board experience better.
If nothing else, those who respect the English language and its mechanics should place perseverare on ignore. How can one post a million times and STILL not know how to use a semi-colon?
I didn't find the need to put down those that prefer the half-empty glass mentality. I'm not sure why you need to put me down for preferring the glass half-full mentality. Watching sports is fun and not my job so I tend to look at the positives and enjoy the telecasts.
i know there are those on this board that will always find something to complain about, but lets compare what we've done to what say, Mich St has done.
W vs Western Michigan (MAC team) 37-24
W. vs Oregon 31-28. The same Oregon team that got housed by 40 at home to Utah.
W vs Air Force 35-21
W Central Michigan 30-10
Going forward the next 2 weeks they play Purdue and Rutgers. Not sure I've seen an easier 6 week start to the season than that.
Had ND played that schedule do we have less than 40 in any game? And we're playing a QB that was 3rd string 6 months ago, a converted WR in the spring at RB and a true Fr at TE.

Texas is getting better. I think they have a shot at getting to 6-6. G-Tech could still go 8-4.
thanks Irish friar -- not quite sure what is achieved in coming on this board and taking shots at the staff and in some case players . We are a nationally ranked program playing big time college football . Don't quite get the purse's of the world always finding a need to take negative shots at the coaches . Sickening actually

Georgia Tech is still in disbelief on the ass-whippin they were given in South Bend.
That game is obviously going to effect the rest of their season.
But make no mistake - they are a good team. The Irish were underdogs at home
for Christ's sake!! Everyone was on the GT bandwagon - before the ND game.
Season's early and we've beaten teams just as good (or bad) as MSU, TCU has
to this point. Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Stephan F. Austin, etc. etc.
Point is, we're 4-0 and have beaten all the teams on our schedule so far. That's all
you can ask. We get by Clemson this weekend and everyone will have to come up
with a whole new list of excuses about our playoff chances.
Go Irish!!!
