What a great player he is. Not bad for a true freshman. Can he play offense?

Yes, because he recognized the opening behind a pulling O-lineman.

Typically, the offense has a way to account for an unblocked defenser i.e. throwing hot or reading him. Twice he came off the edge, on what appeared to be a blitz, and was totally unaccounted for. He gets credit for making the play, but I would expect average players to make those plays. I do recall him blowing past an ND O-lineman on one zone play though. That was nice.

He had something like 3 tackles for loss in one game as a true freshman.

That's what a lot of average players get in an entire season.

LOL@ downplaying how good this kid is.

This is why sports teams do advanced scouting. So they can see if stats are an accurate representative. I literally just mentioned all three of his TFL's. He certainly did his job, but I'm not going to pump somone up for making a play because of a completely blown assignment in the same way I'd defend an ILB who got smashed by an offensive tackle because the DE didn't do his job. Its about looking at the situation realistically. I don't know if Malik Jefferson is a good player and I don't really care. Just saying.
