We’re loaded at CB.

If Styles moves, isn’t the better play to put him at Safety?

The safety move will be Clarence Lewis. If styles stays a CB we will have a very athletic and talented DB room. Also means the freshman are pushing for playing time. Jmo

Why Lewis over Styles at S?

Isn’t Styles bigger, faster, stronger?

I’d see Styles being in the 2-deep at WR before CB.

From what I’ve gathered is Lewis is a step slow for CB. But his instincts and understanding of the position would better fit safety. This is what I’ve heard. Jmo.

Golden appears to want Styles, probably as a CB, with Barnes moving to safety, where he is currently cross training. Freeman stated that Styles will practice on offense and defense this coming week, and will likely see action on both sides in the Blue Gold game.

I have never heard of a hybrid WR/CB. I thought one was tall and the other short.

When he committed to ND I said then I preferred him at corner with maybe a half dozen snaps on offense per game. He was an outstanding high school corner.
At this point, it’s all about want and buy in on his part. If they can convince him that playing corner is a better path to the NFL, then I think the switch will happen. But he’s in his third year and there are some talented guys competing to play, and he’s not assured of anything.

Bmo is clearly starter next year and you’d have to think Mickey or gray as well… back up corner and in the wr rotation could get him like 30 snaps each side

I think Styles would jump Mickey and push Gray for number 2

Styles has never played S in his life though. He played corner in HS and was very good at it
I didn’t know.

You realistically think he could be an impact player on D this year?

Maybe next season. We’ll need to replace Hart.

I believe tOSU lost the recruiting battle because they wanted him as a cb while ND offered as a wr.
If he is OK with the move than he'll be a helluva cb at ND

I disagree for this year. I think he will be rotational this year at the slot.

I think this is a play for next year when Hart is gone. Morrison, grey, and styles could match up athletically with just about anyone.

The Mickey long term hate is interesting… he absolutely had a bad frosh year but coaches have been high on him.

We totally still need good WRs, though. That position is hardly any more solidified than CB. But I guess if he's not really standing out there, then maybe we're not losing much. Other than the fact that maybe he would blossom this fall, as a junior, because it's not so much that he's not talented or has no aptitude, it's just that he's an underclassmen and hasn't hit his stride yet.

Well that's good if he's standing out, because I definitely recall thinking, based solely on his HS clips, that this kid looks better at DB than he does at WR. Similar to the way I would say Cam Hart stood out as a HS player as looking better and more natural etc, as a CB than as a WR......

Not that either or both of those dudes couldn't end up being excellent WRs, only that, IMO, they looked better at DB, and definitely would have to be strongly considered to actually end up playing there, even if the original plan was to be a college WR playing on offense.

So once again, I'm signaling my approval of this position switch....

I’m not opposed to a backfield full of shut down corners and turnover machines.

Get the talented freshman receivers ready. It sounds like they’re already ahead of the curve.

He’s reportedly having a really good Spring. I expect he’ll get plenty of snaps as a rotational piece this year, and plenty next, either as a starter or nickel or rotational piece.

We generally only play 2 deep at wr. We need more for practice and camo, but even without styles we are at 8 ish counting Tyree.. so numbers aren't an issue.

Thomas, colzie, solerno, Tobias, cam, Tyree, greathouse, flores

What? Whatever. You have not made any kind of compelling argument that switching him is the right thing to do. You just listed our depth chart, which isn't that great, and certainly isn't proven, and almost superfluously and irrelevantly insisted how apparently we only ever go two deep as a going thing, which would mean six WRs playing regularly.... one of which could easily be Lorenzo Styles, who has as good a chance as any to blossom into a front-line offensive player for us heading into his jr season, especially after having paid his dues thus far and is totally ready to step up into prominence.....

And we already have two starters at CB in Cam Hart and Morrison, and so he's not any kind of a lock to necessarily contribute more as a DB. So why the F do you feel the need to be such a patronizing know-it-all, offering up the most mind-numbingly unconvincing arguments?
