Greer (S.C.) senior cornerback Troy Pride Jr. still wants to visit Notre Dame, but says he hasn't planned that trip yet. The three-star cornerback is currently committed to Virginia Tech, but is still hearing from Tennessee, UNC and Maryland, as well as the Irish.
Pride Jr. Wants To Visit
Also, this didn't make it into the story, but I asked Pride Jr. about his thoughts on the proposed (now tabled) Virginia Tech fine system.
Did you hear about that proposed system? - "I saw the proposal by Coach Foster that he planned. I thought it was kindof, a little outrageous. There are players that you have to have those kindof requirements with, but I think for the majority I don't think that was a good idea. But it was appealed anyway, it never went down, but I was kind of like 'ehhh'. A couple of fans from Tennessee tagged me in it on Twitter, and I was like 'wow'."
Have you talked to the coaches about it? - "I haven't actually talked to them about it yet, but I definitely will. I don't think they can go through with it, I think the idea was definitely taken away from the jump. I still feel like they could somehow try to find a way to do it though, and I don't think I'd like that too much, so I've got to talk to them about it.
"If anything, there should be rewards for doing good stuff, not penalties. Taking away $100 for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, I mean sometimes you can't control that, sometimes it's the referee. So I'm definitely going to inquire about it, just to ask about the thought process behind it, but it sounds like it got cancelled."
