Steve Angeli going forward

Yeah. I don't see Angeli as more talented than Tommy. Tommy had intangibles that were beyond his physical skills. Angeli has better physical gifts.

BUT

The fact is neither Tommy Rees or Steve Angeli move the needle at the qb position beyond what it was during the Brian Kelly days.

I'd much rather ride or die with a freshman or sophomore with high upside
Thats kind of a crazy opinion but you're entitles to it

And intangibles is not talent. The physical gift part is what talent is

Angeli is way more athletic than Tommy and has a stronger arm

I'm sorry Steve might be a great kid but he is a backup at best. Kenny is not ready but if I had to start one it would be Kenny he has huge upside. But it won't matter were adding a transfer qb.
And you're basing this on what? Their HS film? You're at practice everyday? This notion that any idiots on this board know shit about either player is freaking laughable

Have u watched the film the kid is a gun slinger. Steve reminds me of Tommy Reese nothing special decent backup. I think Carr and Minchey are special so going forward were set with qb plus Knight for 25.

Please. Bryan Driskell lost all credibility when he was claiming how "dynamic" Tyler Buchner is. 😂

Exactly! If Minchey was as good as these know nothings on this forum are claiming, he'd be QB2. Instead he's QB3 😂

I still have no issue with taking a transfer so long as he comes to compete without any promises (ala Buchner and Pyne who lost their jobs as transfers). I do have an issue though if Angeli or Minchey transfer because of it. We don’t know what we have on our own roster and Angeli has looked good when he’s been in the game. If you make promises to some mediocre QB that blows 3 games and Minchey could’ve won 11, it’s a bad decision. If you can’t develop your own guys you’re a shitty coach. If Angeli or Minchey isn’t ready, you have to look inward for the problem.
We don't know what ND has at QB, but I'm pretty confident the coaches know what they have at QB.

How would anyone definitively know? Angeli has not taken one meaningful snap in 2 years, and another grad transfer portal QB is being recruited for 2024.

Disagree, Talent is defined as natural aptitude or skill. Jaylen Sneed is more athletic than Manti was but Manti was superior talented. Talent should not be defined as athleticism alone, I played hoops with far superior athletes who had 0 talent. John Stockton comes to mind as well as a great talent, not athletically gifted.

Are you? The same coaches that repeatedly couldn’t put enough guys on the field? The same coaches that became fans of play action just last week? The Pats didn’t think they had anything with Tom Brady. Don’t make the mistake of thinking our coaches know much.

You can say the same about Larry Bird. He had no athletic skills but he would kill anyone on the court.

I'd take the word of any coach over any of the know nothings on this forum, especially you. You, like most everyone on this forum doesn't know sh1t. You're all claiming one player is better than the other based on a few minutes of film, it's completely laughable.

Well that's not true. Better QBs than Minchey started off 3rd string or even worse as frosh. But we'll see what happens. It's going to be a good competition. Let the best man win

He's had an entire season to pass Angeli and supplant himself as the backup. I'm not saying he won't do it next year, but to simply discount Angeli when no one on this forum knows squat about the QB's is absurd.

I wouldn't discount him either. But it's very possible he wins the job next year. Just like it's very possible Angeli does. It will be a battle

Carr starting before bowl game to get prep is also an extra indicator he will be in the mix this spring as well

He'll get his opportunity. If he wins the job, that will be tough. But t he'll have his chance
When you think of the combination of OC Gerad Parker and true freshman CJ Carr starting at TAM, what are your first thoughts?

Cj must be a stud to have beaten out Minchey and Angeli as a true freshman. He must be the real deal

Those aren't my thoughts, at all.

And frankly, I do not believe one word you are saying.

You know damn well Marcus Freeman isn't sending out CJ Carr in his first game to start at TAM.

Marcus Freeman announced publicly he will pursue a grad transfer QB for 2024.

There's a reason for that.

You asked for my thoughts. So I gave mine

Do I think it's unlikely Carr starts game 1, yes.

Do I think it's impossible, no.

Barring injuries, impossible..... and 100% will not happen.

He'll get his oppurtunities to win it
Not if we have another Hartman situation he won’t. Nobody intelligent believes Buchner had a chance. Rumor was he looked better in practice than Hartman. Sam had the job the minute he said yes. All he has to do was not be a tool and the job was his. He was too high profile. Had Freeman started Buchner he’d never be able to land a transfer QB ever again. Anyone that says otherwise is naive and easily manipulated by coach speak. Freeman will go to the portal bc he doesn’t have faith in his current guys. CJ will get redshirted unless Freeman decides not to go portal or brings in a nobody special type. CJ is not Trevor Lawrence. Even if it was Caleb Williams we’d hear all spring about how it’s an open competition. It won’t actually be true.

Totally agree, never say impossible; highly unlikely. But let's be thankful on this day that we live in a country where a bunch of know nothings can debate this stuff ad nauseum :)
CJ Carr isn't starting at TAM. You know this, I know this, Golson knows this.

He didnt say if he was going to try and land a high profile QB (if there is one) or one that provides depth and experience to help the young guys. Teams do it both ways

It's unlikely but not impossible. He'll get his chance. If he's good enough early he'll start. If not, he won't
CJ is not a Trevor Lawrence. He won't start unless a couple of guys get injured. I'll put money on it.

I would put money on it that he doesn't star too. It's unlikely but not impossible is my point. And hes not battling any Trevor Lawrence types either.

I can't believe how long this debate can go on; none of the people on this board know whether he will or won't start at TAM, so impossible is not in the equation. Seems unlikely or even highly unlikely is the most accurate. And that's pretty much what Golson is saying. Not sure why that doesn't just cover it

You are are full of hot air. Hartman got the job because Buchner was inaccurate and turnover prone. Neither of the youngsters were ready to start.
