Senior men's wrestling championships

If Gable doesn't win, it will be a tie-if the Russian wins Bronze, and we lose on criteria, most champs is the tie breaker.

No pressure Gable.

Just imagine if Lee could have been able to compete at 110.

I agree Gable needs to forgo his SR. Year and pull a Kyle Snyder. I like his size at 6'1 -245, he could cut to 213 but his style will have to change.

Deakin has been beating lots of great kids... he's on fire. Not to shabby for a NU kid.

Hall is a bit short for senior 189. IMO, He will not beat Cox or Taylor in 2020.

Valencia wrestled pretty freaking good. I am a fan! He will handle Nickal.

Has AV wrestled this high of a weight class before?

The effort speaks for itself....But what is mind-blowing is that Steveson managed to win a Junior World title while still Cadet eligible. And he did it at the heaviest weight class where physical maturity definitely matters.

THAT IS INSANE!!!

I do believe so. I am not sure how much muscle he gave up to the Russian today. AV has the ability to wrestle up or down. He wrestled college at 174.

AV will crush Hall at 189 in the future. Hall's body type is not conducive to this upper weight class.
Impressive

Spencer Lee shirts for sure. Iowa is a year away, next year they will have their worst team in years as lee warner the edinboro kid all sit out.

The year after they can make a challenge, but nobody is challenging psu next year, especially if suriano sticks around and doesn't transfer

I think OSU is fully capable of beating PSU much like last year. At least in dual format.

They get Hayes back.

HWT. Snyder
197 Moore
184 Martin
174 Jordan
165 Burcher
157 Ryan
149 Jordan
141 Hayes
133 Pletcher
125 Tomasello (if he can cut)

Ohio State has 3 guys that can easily take the title. Martin, Jordan, and Jordan have the fire power to place in the top-4 or finals.
Hayes was a 5 star commit a few years ago before getting inj..

I know they would like NATO to cut, but the kid was big at 133, and was as close as 2 Corey Clark merkel's in the semifinals, from winning it all.

But if NATO decides to take one for the team, you are right, tOSU can put out a helluva team. Snyder is like having an extra guy scoring for you. Crazy that he can be in the 220's and just maul those monsters at 285

As was already said, Lee definitely shirts next year.

In addition to not yet having a college 125 body, he also has to make sure the knee gets fully healthy.....It is in both his personal and the team's best interest to hang onto the year, let him take the necessary steps in the weight room and build toward a collective bright future.

I am a Hofstra guy who got into the college scene during the Tom Ryan years at the helm; hence it goes without saying that I consider myself something of a Buckeye fan because of the TR connection.....To me, this is a very solid line-up, but not PSU caliber....157 is probably a non-scoring weight at the moment for Ohio State; something you can't have if you are looking to upset the dynasty that currently exists in Happy Valley.

The game-changer that could improve things considerably for the Bucks would be if the McKenna to Columbus rumors have any validity....Ever since the story broke that he was looking to finish out his final two years elsewhere, tOSU has been the silent #1 in the race to land him....But alas, nothing has become official and the start of the new semester is not far away....If McKenna were to come, he probably goes to 49, which allows Micah to slide up to 157.

Assuming he is eligible immediately (he was granted a release), Campbell should give them a little something at 165, but that remains a very deep weight class and AA will be hard to come by...

Oklahoma State is primed for another big year as well....They return six All-Americans (including a 2x National Champ in Heil) and I am confident that guys like Blaylock/Martinez, Jacobe Smith, Marsden/Moore, and Derek White (albeit undersized) will all prove to be reliable in filling the vacancies at 149, 174, 184, and 285.

Well, that went quite well :)

Six out of eight win medals; Burroughs wins his 4th World title; Snyder prevails in the clash of the titans; the U.S. earns the team title for the first time in 22 years.

57: Gilman (Silver)
61: Stieber (12th)
65: Retherford (11th)
70: Green (Silver)
74: Burroughs (Gold)
86: Cox (Bronze)
97: Snyder (Gold)
125: Gwiazdowski (Bronze)

Kind of cool that we have now won the team title at both the junior and senior levels....It's a long shot, but awesome would it be if the Cadets could complete the sweep!

It was a great showing, but Gilman got silver.

The Japanese wrestler in the finals had concrete hips and scored all his points off counters from gilmans shots.

Urroughs match was great. Snyder's was epic. The guy Green lost to in the finals is unlike any wrestler I have ever seen. An athletic freak

Snyder without a doubt is a force of nature.

Brain fart :) Knew it was silver, but wrote gold because my head was up my butt.

Let me fix it above.

And your assessment of the JPN wrestler was spot on....When the score was 4-0 and Gilman was in deep, I thought maybe he'd be able to come back. However, Japan managed to create a beautiful scramble and came out on top to ice it.

Considering he had never medaled in his two previous appearances at the World Championships, Thursday's performance showed how much better Takahashi has gotten in the past year....In fact, just to make the team, I think he had to beat out the 2016 Olympic silver medalist, Higuchi.
