Had Kelly stayed, he would have had the same QB corps.
he's had some middling talent at offense his whole tenure but he was still able to coach it up to competence.
Complimenting Kelly about quarterback play kind of says alot about where this program is....it was always an indictment against him.....always.
It was a hard fought win. Ugly. But ND improved through the game, with the offense finally showing some consistency with OL push and running.
I still think Pyne also showed growing composure and accuracy in the game. I sure hope this is a positive inflection point.

This is total bs. Kelly crapped the bed with Wimbush at Miami n put book in for the int. Yeah Kelly always had a qb. Crust fumbled on the 1 n south florida ran it in 99 yards

I mean you cited someone from ten damn years ago. Dayne Crist! That's how far you had to reach back to take another flailing shot at BK. And you do realize that current NFL player and recent ND QB Ian Book got picked up by the Eagles? The Saints thought they were going to be able to put him on the practice squad. But the Eagles wanted him and claimed him off the waiver wire. So that's at least one good QB....

Chase is right but it’s also an unfair comparison. A first year HC with no offensive coaching experience and his Year 2 OC versus Brian Kelly, currently in his 16th year as a D1 HC. Add another decade with his time at Grand Valley State.
Several years back while discussing practice, Brian Kelly said that they’d practiced the end of game less than :05 to go 4th Down Punt Formation and how his players were to handle it. Further that he was now up to over 105 “quirky” once in a blue moon game situations like that. Needless to say, Marcus Freeman is a long way from worrying about that stuff.
And that’s ok. Imo The Freeman Era is going to be Boom or (a complete) Bust. He’s very likely never going to be a BK X and O type coach BUT he may be engaging enough, father figure enough, etc to get ND the southern stars that we aren’t getting and didn’t get under BK. My point is maybe MF will get ND enough talent to over come his short comings as a HC. Or at least until his skills get up to speed.
lastly it’s not Freeman’s fault that ND has signed 6 WR’s the past 5 recruiting classes. That’s BK (who I was very happy to have) regime that stuck Freeman and Rees with.

ND did not sign 6 WRs in the last five classes. They signed a totally normal amount of WRs during that time. MF declined to sign any additional HS WRs or get any transfers in after getting the job. His fault....

It's still a looooong way out to count on Carr. His phone will continue to ring and with how we're playing and all the other BS ND has in place, why not call it off? The last QB that ND had that made it to the next level and excelled was Joe Montana. Alabama gives the NFL one every 2-3 years.
