IMO the problem is that Wimbush isn't a passing QB and you need the QB to be able pass, smart and able to make some runs when needed. You just can't rely on a running game. Ian Book was a more capable passer. If Wimbush comes back I think Ian or Phil (Freshman) may be strong challenges to Wimbush.
There is no "public voice" at ND. No amount of grousing and complaining by fans is going to affect who the head coach is.
Check the 1st Qtr run by Wimbush where when he got past the 1st dwn mark he went into a slide.
A duel threat QB does not do the slide! He is a RB in the backfield. He is a RB who can pass a bit.
He still could have made yards or even have broken tackles for a big gainer!
This tells me BW does not understand or it has not been clearly defined what his role is in the offense.
That play was all one needed to see to understand BW in ‘17.
