He was one of baseball's great players. I was lucky enough to see him play a couple of times in person. He will be remembered both for his flamboyance and the incredible talent he was. If you read the story on ESPN, some of his career statistics are mind boggling. He stole 1,406 bases over the course of his career. Lou Brock is second on the career list with 938 steals, a difference of 468 steals. I am trying to think of another sport statistic where there is such a disparity between first and second all-time. Cy Young won 511 games. Walter Johnson is second with 417 wins. That is quite a disparity, but doesn't match what Henderson did with the base stealing record.
 
An all time great for sure. Died from pneumonia. I'm close to his age, and just got over a 4 week bout with pneumonia. Brutal.
