Most of us have been unhappy with the play direction of the offense by TR. With that said, let's give him credit for the variety of plays that he called today. Nice to see.

I especially loved the wheel route to Diggs for the TD. One of my very favorite plays.

It was a great game plan and nice adjustments. The thing is that he showed zero signs of this in the first three weeks. Hopefully this will be an indication that he will not be so stubborn moving forward.

I agree, he has definitely started to redeem himself after the first 3 weeks. I don't understand why he wasn't opening up the offense in those first 3 games, it's almost as if he is easing the players into the playbook. I'd rather he open it up game 1.

Drew Pyne is not Bryce Young. That said, he is our guy. good game today.

I guess that's why fans are so obsessed with play calling. They can't actually be there during the week, where the real business of winning and losing is actually made, and was certainly the reason why ND was struggling. Because we sucked, whatever stupid play was called.

And now since we finally got our shit together and kicked some ass, then of course the play-calling has improved. And the fans approve, in their predictably patronizing tone....

Yes execution like we saw today makes a huge difference.

Carolinas D was ranked low. It was too easy in the run game. Lets see what he calls against BYU. Other teams will blanket Mayer.

Not disagreeing, but it's a confidence builder for the Offense, and Rees may just realize he needs to stick with the run longer.

I actually like what I’ve seen from our receivers this year. I always thought Pyne should of been the starter from day 1 because he seemed to understand the game more but I understand the coaching staff choosing otherwise because of the upside with Buchner, which is risky to make that decision IMO. I really think we have a great group of receivers as long as we have a QB who knows how to distribute.

All this Rees bashing all season is, and has been, BS. And this notion that today "he opened up the offense" is stupid. He has attempted many different formations and play calls, that we simply didn't execute on. He takes what the defense gives you, and what your personnel can execute. UNC's defense is awful; and our skill players are still young. Pyne, for all the bashing he's taken has done a nice job; and quite frankly throws a much more accurate ball then TB. So the lesson is actually, quit the bitching and bashing and let the offense grow. If you didn't know that our offense would struggle this year, then you clearly don't know much. We are young, thin and inexperienced at the skill positions, with the exception of Mayer (assuming you consider TE one of the skill positions). This team will live and die with our defense (which also has alot of youth) and better OLine play. We are not a top 20 team, but the future is bright. On to BYU

Well put

Today's win looked exactly like a typical easy ND win from any of these last four seasons. Which, to Rees' credit, was what one would be hoping for in keeping him on as OC. That it would just be more of the same. The offense has been a machine, if not a juggernaut, during this great BK-led run of the last four seasons. And Tommy Rees is absolutely nothing if not a BK disciple.

And that's what today's offensive performance looked like and felt like in every respect. So I don't know what was amiss these first three weeks, but they got their shit together boy for today.....

Our wrs have stunk this year

Ohio State game plan was to keep their offense off of the field as much as possible. It was why ND was running the Play Clock down to 1-3 secs on the very first drive of the game.

Marshall was a case of arrogance getting the best of ND. ND players, coaches and fans were all guilty of it. Some of the score predictions here were crazy. “It’s Marshall. We’re at home. Did you see how we almost beat OSU? ND 42 Marshmellow 7”. Something crazy like that. Classic case of looking past a team and ending up regretting it.

Same can be said re Cal. It’s almost like nobody has noticed that the most of the ND Coaching Staff and most of the Offensive Starters are in their 1yrs being so! It matters and it’s had an impact.

I have never understood why grown ass adults take shots at Notre Dame Football players, who have achieved more athletically in their young lives than you ever dreamed of.

So dont ever take a shot at any politician or actor or any billionaire or media member or any athlete ever right?

And I'm not taking a shot at them, they've played poorly. It's a fact

Rees called a balanced game 287 on the ground and 289 in the air.

It is all about execution.
Most offensive coordinators look smart when they can get 5 yards up the middle at will, especially if that turns into 8 yards in the 4th. It remains to be seen whether that was great scheming, good coaching, or just an inept opponent.

True. That's why I'm really looking forward to the BYU game now. Let's see if the OL can build off this game as well as the offense as a whole

This was pyne and company getting comfortable with each other. Three different players caught TD's .. the more they work styles in the better!!! If Estime does not fumble.. I doubt UNC scores one of those late TD's .. pyne is very accurate! 6-2 when they play Clemson.

Glad we won today but Reese is still horrible and must be replaced at the end of this season.. With him as an OC ceiling is 8-9 wins
North Carolina's D is ranked 123rd ...
Reese would be back to his terrible self against any defense in top 40 or so.

Yes but....

Estime is "THE GUY"

Does he not realize Tyree can be a tough matchup for the D catching the ball....

I won't give Tyree's running credit today because my 7.3 Powerstroke Excursion could've fit in those holes.
He is quick and can catch....that's his niche...

Estime needs to batter the defense senseless. He's the hardest RB to tackle we've had in a very long time.

Carries
Estime 17
Tyree 15
Logan 10

Against the toughest opponents that needs to read
Estime 27
Tyree 9
Logan 6

We'll see going forward but NC played really lousy defense

Extremely poor

Running backs are only as good as the offensive line that opens the holes for them !

Rees called a very good game and yet you claim that he’s “still horrible”

Did you watch the game or did someone just tell you about it ?

What makes you think that they’re “grown ass adults” ? 😜

To say NC is defenseless is an understatement. 134 points given up in last 3 games, they may volunteer kick returners!

I didn't sleep on Marshall.

In CFB today more than ever teams are fully capable of getting an upset victory.

Everything the opposition does or predicts works perfectly....plus some luck....

Upset

Scholarship limit...portal....

The gap is not very wide

The gaps are huge for the elite teams. And the very good ones. That's why you have 40 and 50 point blowouts every weekend

So we're back to that again. We were trying to suck.... ND fans are a trip to behold, and you do not disappoint. But you're determined to do your service as a little minion of ND. And that's your role. Even though I'm fired up after this win, and am back on the bandwagon! But still you must do your duty....

Unless you're trolling. And you perfectly understand how much the offense just plain sucked the first three weeks, even if course you don't really know why, which you wouldn't, and which you don't. But all you really know how to do anymore is make up nonsense excuses for shit. So have some fun with it!
