At ND recruiting doesn't matter. Its an afterthought among the fans for some reason.
We get beat up all off-season on the recruiting trail by the modern powers--and the other blue bloods--despite making more money than all but like 3 of them. They just come in and yank our top-of-the-board-guys away from us like a pedophile driving an ice cream truck and bully us out of nearly all of our "plan A" prospects EVERY SINGLE RECRUITING CYCLE and we just let it happen with no accountability
makes no sense. none at all.
can't believe a billion dollar football program at the top of the sport in fan support can't land national championship caliber talent other than at like 1 or 2 position groups. can't believe nobody at ND at the highest levels is competent enough to understand that the status quo can't continue.
it's completely f'n bizarre.
either there are serious money issues none of us our privy to or ND has some of the most incompetent administrators (doing less with more than almost anybody else in the country) when it comes to the way they are running the football program
if it wasn't for Kelly's arrogance of thinking he could be 1 of the 3 coaches in the last 30 years (total) that could win a national title with 3 & 4 star talent, he might never have coached here past 2012.
Kelly & the follow up of Marcus Freeman (who Kelly hired and said would be the next head coach) are two gifts that just keep on giving. If not for these two great football coaches the football program would probably still be in the quicksand that Davie-Willingham-Weis left it in.
