Really bad look/behavior.

Does he mean Xavier Watts taunting the SC bench on his runback on the second of two successive 100 yard pick sixes? I thought that was awesome. USC thought they were just going to keep coming back, no matter what the score, and just drive down the field every time if necessary. But hell no to that. And so XW had to represent!

He only looked at them. He had his mouthpiece in the whole way. Nothing like the USC WR running his mouth and pushing after every play in the first half. People act like Xavier went Jerry Tillery on them or something. They’re are just looking for something to bitch about at this point.

That was a cheap shot by Mills. Period. Selfish because if a ref saw it he’d rightfully be tossed out.

Butterfly effect? Maybe. Again, pure mindless selfishness. From a captain?

The leg hold looked minor. Can’t justify what could have been a costly error.

Agreed. And who the hell punches someone in the facemark? Good way to break your hand.

In the second half, there was a case when a SC defensive player was called for a personal foul after he grabbed Greathouse by the facemark and pulled his helmet off.

And you just know it looked minor? Were you on the field? Some said the dude tried to twist his knee earlier then tried his ankle on that play. Granted he needed composure as a ref did see it and not call but the kicker threw his helmet off on the field and ref never blew him for unsportsmanlike conduct either. So it's a wash as the ref saw that too and even spoke to him about it.

Uuhh...
If you mold the mouthpiece properly you can talk with absolutely no distortion.

He might not have said a word or screamed out
I AM........THE GREATEST, Cassius Clay style...

The mouthpiece in or out isn't telling a thing. 🙄

It wasn’t a cheap shot if he was retaliating

He didn’t say a word. He just looked. Close up replay showed it.

Meanwhile #6 Lemon SC WR was having conversations with half of ND

Well, you can watch the replay that doesn’t show his mouth moving at all. I mean he could always be a world class ventriloquist I guess.

This. Why do people listen to the losers cry so much? If you watched the game, you can clearly see USC was every bit as chippy throughout as we were. Now they want to cry? EAD

I reviewed it and it didn’t rise to the level of protective retaliation. He didn’t get injured, did he?

I won’t get religious about this…but think if he got caught. Like I said, it getting tossed out could have cost the game.

Dodged a bullet.

This. It very well could have cost us the game.

We had a similar example of this undisciplined behavior when Beaux Collins shoved the Texas A&M defender after catching a pass on our last drive. That, too, could have cost us the game.

I think that’s being overly dramatic tbh.

Well, Shithead Sanders clearly pushed a ref last week and nothing ever came of that.

Dude, I'm applauding him. The adrenalin and nerves had to have been off the charts at that point. USC is moving the ball at will on us, we're not stopping them, and we might even lose the game the way things were going. We get an incredible 99 yard pick six which is salvation for us, and basically seals the win. USC nevertheless marches right back down the field and then we get another one?? Of course he's going to talk some shit, streaking past the entire length of the USC sideline.

It was awesome. Nor did it seem like a big deal in any case. Xavier Watts if anyone, has earned the right to be a little triumphant in a moment like that.

I knew you were. My post was not in any way meant to oppose yours.

You can only play SCHOOLYARD so long. The next thing you know, you're throwing PICK SIXES.

Holtz always said about passing -- TWO OF THREE THINGS CAN GO WRONG.

Losing Marks at the start of that game DECISIVELY hurt USC. The best passing teams need RUN-GAMES as well.

The SC receivers seemed to be directing a lot of smack at our DBs in the game whenever they made a catch. I suspect Xavier was responding to that. Personally, I loved it.

Their running game was pretty damned good, even with him out of the game.

Y'all want dogs on the football team.

Then complain when they act like dogs.

Handling and standing on his business.

Fighting Irish showing some fight.

Lucky he didn't get flagged but get over yourself.

Life is such that you can't have your cake and eat it to.. some of your parents should have taught you that earlier in life.

Sincerely,

Everyone else not in the wine and cheese crowd.

He’s got to do better for sure, but I won’t condemn him for it. To call ND “Thuggish” over it is where I draw the line though. Whoever is touting that garbage take doesn’t know what thuggish behavior is.
probably hates private schools and catholics

You tough guys!

😉

Like I said, imagine he got caught and ejected?
A player can be nasty and not commit dumb penalties. Some dumb penalties are more understandable than others though. I’m not sure where Mills’ penalty falls as I haven’t seen a good clip of what happened that play or what happened previously that contributed. Either way, it wasn’t a smart move on Mills’ part.
