"Putting up a full page ad in the South Bend Tribune"

Great idea. Went to donate but prefer to know what the ad will say first. Any chance you will post it here once it has been finalized? Otherwise, we can keep checking back to the gofund website until it is posted there.

I'm going to do this just to do something. This time around its about way more than just bad football. Most teams where the players regularly get caught cheating and getting arrested driving to strip clubs with weed and firearms.....at least most of those teams kick ass in football. Kelly and Swarbrick have overseen an overall lack of team accomplishment both on and off the field. No way they should continue to represent Notre Dame. That is NOT what we stand for and I will fight to dismiss them.

Irish Mike...go to the website and you will see nearly a hundred folks have contributed already and the cost for a Sunday ad has already been met. They plan to run it more than once depending on how much is raised and any excess goes to Ara's charity. It's all well thought out, just personally want to review the ad before contributing to the effort, which is one way to make our disgust known to the powers that be. CGVR may be the one doing this or just passing on the info, but it is happening.

Keep smiling...

Haha. No chance you really follow through on this. Typical CGVR "tough talk"
Wrong again. Full page SB tribune already funded.
You really should sit out all things Notre Dame.
My Alma mater needs less of enablers...
Great season your hero authored.....Keep supporting that schmuck. It suits you.

Stupid is as stupid does. Likely the same people who protest in the middle of a highway it the ones who burn flags.
Grow up.

Keeping kelly is stupid.
'12 '13 kelly's zeroes

Hope the ad makes everyone feel better but it's kind of like a Jill Stein led recount........meaningless at this point........kind of like the Florida fan they just showed yelling i'm sure some fine coaching words to the defense right before the running back took it in for another touchdown.........

Do you think keeping Kelly at this point would be less stupid? I think it would be about as smart as driving the backroads of Central Indiana right after fall training camp breaks to go to a strip club with a bag of weed and a firearm in the car. Or maybe as stupid as handing in a term paper that you didn't write with your own last name spelled wrong at the top.

Whats the add gonna say ? I like the idea.
"Fire Swarbrick" is being chalked all over campus....

Jack Swarbrick has failed Notre Dame football

For seven years, Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick has enabled and defended his chosen head football coach. These are their results:

Failure on the field

– 4-8 in 2016 for a team projected in the Top 10

-- 22-16 the last 3 years, a worse percentage than the 21-15 that got Tyrone Willingham fired

-- 2 major bowls in 7 seasons, both decisive losses. The one Top 10 season ended in a 42-14 title game loss after the coach pursued other coaching jobs during bowl preparations
Failure off the field

-- All wins in 2012 and 2013 vacated due to undisputed academic malfeasance

-- 7 players arrested in August 2016

– Starting QB expelled for academic misconduct

-- Student videographer killed by a fall in high winds, with leaders denying responsibility

-- Repeated singling out of players as scapegoats, and a sideline physical assault on an assistant coach

What would we fight for?
(Kelly/Grimes photo)

We fight to defend Notre Dame’s unique century-long quest for greatness both on and off the field. Jack Swarbrick and his coach not only have failed to uphold this standard of excellence, they openly defy it. Swarbrick has dared the university’s leaders to choose between the Notre Dame tradition and himself. At this critical moment, we call on them to make the right choice.

Do I think taking an ad out in a local newspaper to cry about the colleges decision to keep (potentially) their coach is stupid? Why yes I do.
I think it shows severe lack of maturity. I don't get my way therefore I'm going to cry yell and scream until I do.
Your example of stupid is also correct. But are you blaming Kelly for these idiotic decisions? Would you blame the coach if those kids were yours? If you answer yes you're part of the problem.

Wrong. Drawing media/other attention to the mismanagement of this program is prudent.

attention to the mismanagement of this program

Let's be clear this is cgmr's "perceived mismanagement of the program" at issue here. A reminder that cgmr has been often banned from posting on this board, so his judgement is, well, suspect. I am not aware of any other poster's on this board who have also been banned near as often as cgmr.

More lies...

Ps if you disagree then I know the folks involved are tracking correctly.

I like it. I will make a donation.

Jack needs to be held accountable. He needs to be put on notice along with BK.

I can understand some folks here not wanting to support this effort, but at a loss to understand why some here are criticizing those supporting this. Citizens writing letters to the editors of our newspapers is a time honored tradition and valued expression of free speech, and taking out a full page ad by folks disgusted by what passes for ND football on and off the field today is in the same vein. The political analogy of Stein's efforts for a recount misses the mark by a wide margin. Citizens writing letters to their elected officials voicing their displeasure is more apt, and another value exercise.

It still amazes me that people like quin and 0gaunt still believe in Kelly or $warbrick.

They are related or good personal friends with Jack or BK or both.

Have to be.

Twalsh I felt was Jack - every time I blasted jack he'd quietly support / defend Jack. If he was not a actually Jack then he's a personal friend or relative. IMO.

Those guys say they don't read these boards. But they do or they have someone close to them monitor the pulse of the fan base.

Coach Kelly is the head football coach of ND. The stories of him looking elsewhere to coach we have been assured are not true. That said, of course I support him and will continue to do so. I want a coach who can take ND football to the championship game. Like Coach Kelly did.

The first coach to get us that far in almost 30 years.

He was like General Custer. He led us to a ass whipping. That is what he did. While he prepared for an NFL job interview.

Oh, so now Trace Armstrong isn't doing his job. You have never known what end is up....

Winning isn't as easy as some think.
Of course not. It takes a combination of talent and great coaching. Kelly is a good coach, but not an elite coach, and ND will not be an elite football program as long as Kelly is the HC. That said, if Kelly is the HC that in fact leads our team out of the tunnel next year, most of us will be cheering and hoping for his and the team's success. In the interim, I still hold out hope that we'll be cheering a different HC next year.

He is the head coach so I support him. As long as the stories of him talking to the team in LA are wrong.

Did he lose to Alabama in the NC game, yes. How many teams have beat Saban in the time since Kelly and ND lost?

Again, winning isn't easy.

That ad will surely get him fired. :D.
If that doesn't work you all can get together and hold your breath.
Thanks for the comedy.

Newspaper is a dead medium. I suspect this ad will have little impact.

And say, that men's basketball squad is playing lights out right now. I encourage you to check them out, my good man.
