To win on the road you have to protect the football and pack your D & Kicking Game. Stanford is a slightly better than average team overall but at home they would be classified as good.

Elko did a fantastic job vs Navy. Took away all the home run plays, controlled the FB and made the QB the primary guy...17 points.

I am sure he will slow Love and keep him somewhat under control and challenge their mediocre QB and thick ankle WRs with press coverage...If those dudes get open you deserve to lose.

Stanford are Clydesdales. Make it a mile and a half sprint like USC did and you can run them right off the field. Which is why they are zero threat for the Playoffs. Turn the ball over and give them short field they can plow around and beat you 24-17.

Normally I would agree with the above post but our defense won't be able to stop Bryce Love. We have to score a lot of points to win which is why I am a predicting a loss. Remember, average QBs or their back ups always play well against ND.

Took away all home run plays huh....??

Two things...navy wiuod consider converting a 3rd and 16 a home run play. Navy wouod consider owning T.O.P a home run. Both achieved like a dream.

Lastly Navy only ran one what you would call home run play and the only thing that prevented that was the wind.

Giving Elko way too much credit here.

Preaching to the choir..... I like it

Lol are you actually hating on ND giving up 17 points to Navy and losing the time of possession battle to a triple option team?

If Chris Finke didn't try to be a hero at the 45 yard line in the rain and the offense ran downhill and haf Wimbush not played like a civ, that would have been a comfortable 34-38 to 17 win.

The defense really had 3 bad plays all game. The offside by Hayes on 4th down. The missed tackle for a 20 yard gain on 3rd and 16 and the poor coverage on the flanker pass at the end of the game.

If you told me that ND would give up 17 points to Navy in any year, I'd friggen take it. Holding a team under 20 points in modern college football is excellent defense. Do that routinely and you will win a boat load of games.

Elko is a good DC and had a good defensive game plan against Navy. The close score was the fault of a shitty performance by the offense and a terrible special teams gaff. That game should have been comfortable late.

Agreed IIO. Hoop has an axe to grind and he's been grinding it hard. Play our game -- be patient, protect the ball, and play solid d -- and we'll get to ten wins.

Of course a win would dull the axe. Until the bowl game... I really thought this would be our year

Preseason vs. a very tough schedule: I thought 9-3 would be a good year this year. 10-2 would be a real accomplishment!

If I see the ND corners respecting Stanford WR playing off I'm going to throw up.

Elko’s D was dominant against Wake and Miami. I like your strategy!
