I quit the premium board, but what are all the "this is the new golden age of ND football" people saying now. Not saying Irish cannot be good, but people on these boards are seriously underestimating the loss of these guys. For all the Folston lovers, he is no Prosise. Every time CJ touched the ball, there was a the possibility of a TD. This does not even count the loss of players such as Brown and Carlisle who had very strong senior years, as well as Sheldon Day, and even Elijah Shumate. Not to mention Ronnie Stanley. Maybe Justin Brent can get out of BK's dog house long enough to become that home run hitter. Who plays linebacker next year? Who are the dependable wide receivers? No on with experience. Not a good day to be an Irish fan.

Nobody had heard of CJ or Kizer before the start of last season, moron. Go back to your skunkbears. ND recruits better than any team in the midwest that that doesnt pay their players.

Great day to be an ND fan. Our NFL caliber talent is going to the NFL. BK and co are stockpiling with more NFL talent. The program is in a great place.

I'm anxious for the draft. We could have 10+ guys selected.

Next year will be more of the same.

the 2016 team will be top 5 as long as the D progresses

Adams is better than CJ.
Adams,Hunter,St.Brown,Boykin,Smythe,Zaire,Sanders,etc. on O side along with Kizer.Morgan,Tillery,Cage,Bilal,Trumbetti,Bonner,Tranquil and Barajas,Coney,Rochelle and Jones on D. Main weakness may be secondary but with Crawford and new cast will see how it pans out.Doesn't look weak to me.

As I posted in another thread; I like Will a lot, seems like a real nice kid, but I have a real hard time rooting for anyone who quits on his team, and I believe leaving early, without degree in hand, is doing just that. I'll thank each and every one of them (those that leave early) for what they brought to ND, but I cannot root for them at the next level. Thank God we have people like Manti and Tyler as the people/players I'll continue to root for.

Ridiculous

Fuller and CJ are big losses. Fuller would have been the best WR in the country next year and CJ ( wtf is he thinking ??) would have only gotten better as a RB. He has made a huge mistake. The speed factor is the key and that will not be replaced .

Adams is better than CJ.

CJ Sanders is an absolute burner and will now be in the mix at slot. A Jones can fly for a TE, and his role will be increased.

Maybe Malik is the qb next year.

Losing CJ and Will hurts, but they are replaceable.

BK has stockpiled the roster w speed and athletes.......we'll be fine.

This is why I stopped paying to be on this board. There are so many uninformed football experts and wishful thinkers it is ridiculous. Let me start with this:

Someone said that we never heard of Prosise before this year - Here are his stats from last year - 10 rushes 126 yards 12.6 yards per attempt 50 long 1 TD; 29 catches 516 yards 17.8 per catch 78 long and 2tds. But he was a complete unknown. All I know is this. CJ will go much higher in draft than Folston and maybe if CJ didn’t play more it was because Kelly didn't recognize his talent.

I like Josh Adams a lot but he is nowhere close to CJ Prosise. That statement is absurd.

The person who picked on Will Fuller, because he's leaving a suddenly he is a quitter? Have you met the kid? Do you even know him? Let's find someone else who can average 20 yards a catch and look at his long catches in each game - I could not cut and paste it, but it is impressive.

Someone mentioned these guys: St. Brown (how many catches did he have this year?), Boykin (same?), Smythe (average at best), Zaire (he will be watching from the bench),Sanders (other than a couple of Special teams plays, what did he do?) I’ll give you Kizer, Morgan (is he even still on the team),Tillery, Cage, Bilal (what exactly did they do?), Trumbetti (nice player but no star), Bonner (again what did he do to warrant such praise?),Tranquil (average) and Barajas (what exactly did he do?), Coney (sane thing), Rochelle and Jones. Other than Kizer, Adams, Hunter and Jones, and maybe Rochelle (who did not play well yesterday), what have any of these guys actually done. Maybe they will be good/great but people are making a lot of assumptions and while I hope he improves, thought Jones was disappointing this season. (Maybe it was the expectations.)

Who actually plays linebacker next year? Who supplies the pressure? Who takes KRussell's place? The O-line, without some infusion of talent is just so-so.

Just think there is a lot of wishful thinking going on. I am as big a fan as anyone, but there are a lot of questions going into next year.

I do not expect any logical responses to this post, or even answers to my questions, but whatever.

Thanks for the input. Appreciate the negativity. Glad that a real football expert was able to come set us straight.

Feel free to continue staying away from the board. Your "the sky is falling" perspective will not be missed.

LB? did you watch 2015? except for Jaylon it was hardly a strength! And the 'exotic complicated intricate scheming basically held Jaylon back to extent. LB will not be less effective.
RB: push
TE will be better offensively
WR (depending on incoming Fr.) may be even better.
DL: ummm DL, take that one to the sunshine pumpers!

Don't understand your response. I watched LB this year? Who replaces Jaylon? My point is LB will be really weak next year unless there is some compete surprise. Who are the really good up and coming LBs? Nyles Morgan was supposed to be the next great one and he can't even get on the field. Maybe things change if BVG goes, but just do not see the talent.
I cannot agree that RB is not a push. Sorry. CJ made so many big plays.
To say WR will be better seems to rely on some blind faith in guys we have never seen play.
Not sure what a sunshine pumper is? Sorry for my ignorance.

Not trying to be negative, but your response is a non-response. This is a message board where people can debate football. You did not answer one of my questions/comments..

As an aside, name for me the ten players who will go in the first 3 or 4 rounds of the draft next year?

This is good for recruiting we are sending guys to the NFL and there going to a great education win win to me..

I would agree with this if our recruiting seemed to be better. Maybe I am missing something but this does not seem to be helping recruiting. Moreover, that was not my point. Ultimately, imo, this was the year. we had as good a collection of big play talent as we have had in a while. How often did you hear announcers about the speed? All I am doing is questioning if we can continue this, without having seen any of the replacements. The only one that seems like a clear game breaker is Brent and (possibly Adams) but Brent seems like he is in the dog house. Which if history is a guide, it is not easy to get out of Kelly's doghouse.

You're right. Your opinion is your opinion, and it ought to be respected.

So much negativity around here, that sometimes I have a quick trigger. My apologies.

This just makes that 16 point, DOMINATING Buckeye win that more enjoyable. Excuses, excuses, excuses !
I said all year that your belittling the OSU/BIG schedule could come back to bite you, but I honestly thought it could/would be against another BIG team in a bowl. Even though many of us were disappointed in not making the 4 team playoffs, once we heard it was ND, well we knew what the result would be just like the rest of the BIG. Pay our players ? That's very iffy - nothing any one can prove. But here is one solid, no if, maybe or buts figure: 44-28. Live with that for a while. Nothing feels better than slapping the pi$$ out of arrogant people.

You're a clown.

Honestly I am really flabbergasted about the comments on Fuller’s departure. He put up spectacular numbers with different qbs overs the last two years. Bottom of the first through the 3rd round….it doesn’t matter with the new Collective Bargaining agreement. Everyone outside of the top 10 gets paid essentially the same and it’s become a second contract league (thankfully and fairly so – no more rookies getting paid more than studs). Fuller has given so much to this team which no one expected. The deep bomb from Golson two years ago in the first game set the stage and he continually improved every game since then. I thought he was good for 8 TDs and 900 yard this year with the monster OL we had and inexperienced QBs and potentially run oriented offense. I was completely wrong. He’s a baller and one of the best play makers in CFB. Good luck to him and we have a ton of talent at the WR position moving forward.

As for Prosise, I had a feeling this was coming. Monster year, a true freshmen who surpassed him in the latter half and lastly a stud starter who is coming back. Despite the bad second half, he had to strike while the iron was hot. I loved seeing him come on this year but we are in great shape there. Adams is something special. I can rip on Kelly all day but he hit it out of the park with him. Not a team in America that he wouldn’t see the field on.

Crazy stressful fun year but we are loaded coming back. Defense cant be any worse and the offense is stacked and will have worries of having the Ohio State issue (qb controversy all year). Tough schedule again. 10-2 or 11-1 if we catch breaks.

Arrogant? Have you read your own post? You're on an ND board, of course, there's going to be posts you don't agree with. Why bother replying? It just reinforces the stereotype of nasty Bucknut fans.

As far as slapping us, just remember what goes around comes around and next time the two teams meet that point differential just might be in the Irish favor. Beware of Irish karma! :D

I have attended games at more than 30 CFB stadiums. The Ohio St. fan base is far and away the worst I have ever encountered. Hostile and belligerent doesn't begin to describe it.

My Dad was born and raised in Delphos, Ohio. Our family vacations were visiting family and friends in the Van Wert/Delphos area, I know exactly what you're talking about. My Buckeye cousins are some of my favorite relatives unless we're talking college football. :)

I went to Columbus for the 1995 game. I would have had no problem with the usual banter back and forth. You get that everywhere.
I was not ready for the OSU fans (and it was more than a few) trying to pick fights. It was the only visiting venue I have ever been where I was literally concerned for my own safety.

That's because there a bunch of assholes. Sorry but there really is no other way to say it.

I have read similar posts from other rival fans concerning the fan behavior at the Horseshoe. What is sad is that they don't own up to the bad behavior and demand better sportsmanship from their fans. I visited the OSU campus years ago on the way to visit my grandmother in Akron. I have no desire for a return visit.

Let me put it this way. ND and OSU have a home and home scheduled for 2022 and 2023. I believe the 2022 game is to be played in Columbus I have no desire to attend.

Funny how I never mentioned the bucnuts in my post yet you and everyone else knew I was talking about the dirtiest program in the midwest, daOhst. LOL.

All I have to say is that this is college football and significant contributors leave every year.

Will Fuller went from a few catches his freshman year to then go on to 2 of the best seasons in ND receiver history.

Prosise went from an athlete to safety to wide receiver to running back and came out of nowhere to have an amazing season.

Golden Tate could do nothing but run straight down the field his freshman year and then 2 years later had the best season in college football that year for wide receivers.

Some thought Kizer would never start for ND and then he helped lead ND to the Fiesta Bowl.

It's college football. We've recruited well. The next guys will need to step up and I have faith they will.

I hope you are right. My main point is that it is one thing to be hopeful and another for the people who automatically assume that we can easily replace the production of guys like Fuller and Prosise. Don't have stats handy but if Irish didn't lead country in 40+ yard plays they were close. Maybe my memory is fading with age but when was last time that happened. Also, it's not like backups are bunch of 4 and 5 stars. Sometimes 3 stars turn out like Fuller and Prosise and sometimes they turn out (no disrespect intended) like a Cam McDaniel. You don't challenge for NCs with guys like Cam.
