Projected Winner:

Agree on HCBK a control freak and not a good one. Head Coach should delegate the QB devp... and play calling,,, even game planning, imho. Since that is not going to happen I am optimistic that the MZ/EG combo will be able to fit the BK bill....

5 years and the argument is ND can't find even one average QB? Not Crist, Not Hendrix, Not Massa, Not Rees, Not Golson. Exactly how many failed QBs do we need before we can begin to entertain the idea that maybe, just maybe, it's not that long list of students but the single person responsible for teaching them?

Like I've said, I think BK the HC is a very, very good HC. BK the OC/QB coach is dreadful and has cost the HC games. My hope is the HC realized this and Sanford was brought in to be the true OC/QB coach.
I basically agree with your assessment that Kelly has turned one QB after another into basket cases. I have no clue why or how, but it does seem that being QB at Notre Dame is harder than beating Albert Einstein at math games.

BK lost his man behind the curtain. GVSU he produced a pro QB, CMU - Check, Cincy - Check. ND - Crickets, despite having pro caliber WRs and TEs. Doesn't make sense unless someone was with him all along that didn't make it to ND.

Golson is definitely a qb. His limitations appear to stem from his small stature. He is too small to take the hits through a long season. He doesnt want to keep the ball on qb read and get hit. With leas threat of qb runs its harder to get running game going w him putting more emphasis on passing. I think its also part of why he doesnt like the pocket. His short stature also leads to more tipped balls at los esp when in the pocket.
I think the hits piled up and took a toll after a few games. If he were 6'3" 230 we would run the read option he would be more comfortable in the pocket and the offense would thrive. He is not built to play big time football.
Therefore, zaire has to be the man or a big part of the solution. Not bashing golson just dont think he can play a 13 game season and run this offense

Jay Cutler has a big arm too. You don't win consistently if you turn the ball over at this level.
