Where has this formation been when we have goal to go on the 2 or 3 the last few games? This double TE set was used multiple times in the LSU win and I thought would be one of our go to sets this year. I have seen it once or twice all season.

Go to the 36:00 mark. You'll see the offense run a double TE set two times in a row vs an SEC defense. Whether it's Zaire, Kizer or Procisse... they need to utilize Latua and A Jones or another TE to be the lead blockers and get back to it. You also then have the option of slipping out one of the TE behind the LB that come up to defend the run.

Another set w TE and lead RB blocking for WR jet sweep (Prosise)... essentially again 2 lead blockers goes for TD 1:31:27 mark

Keep in mind who is running the ball. CJ has turned out to be a diamond in the rough. But he is by no means a polished product. He is still just a reactionary runner. Even this late into the season you see him just follow the pull. Some times that will work. Especially with an elite line line ND is sporting this year. And some times it won't.

Last night Temple absolutely sold out on CJ in the run game. Which is why Kizer was able to get multiple runs. Including his huge 70+ yard TD.

Imagine if that was Zaire and Folston as had been planned instead of Kizer and CJ? The season was supposed to offer CJ as a Percy Harvin type back working much like Theo Riddick. Instead of being a stand alone back like he has been forced to be.

Yes injuries happen and yes you have to be able to run with them. But for ND to lose what was supposed to be their 1 - 2 punch in Zaire and Folston that early I believe caused Kelly to alter his idea of the run game for this season.

I disagree. It is one thing if they attempted the same power run formation and failed multiple times. However, they have not attempted the power run this year like they had in the Motor City bowl. Instead electing to be cute and finding themselves having to kick FG instead of TDs.

Here's a hint.

The guy running the ball down after down this year. Isn't made to run the power I, north and south.

In the bowl last year as a rule he didn't. He took more jet sweep and screen looks.

Ok - run Josh Adams, no? Oh wait he's a freshman and BK only trusts them when we're winning against lessor competition.

Answered your own question.

Adams and dexter will be good. Their problem is they don't understand the pass protections if Kizer audibles at the line.

So pick your poison. A runner that as soon as you see on the field you know ain't a throw (basically the opposite of what Cam was a couple years ago) or alter your run game for work with the players you have

QIZ, I am right there with you. Championship teams have the ability to run the ball in on first and goal. NEXT TIME YOU HAVE FIRST AND GOAL FROM THE THREE BK, GO DOUBLE TIGHT ENDS, LINE YOUR QB UNDER THE CENTER AND RUN THE DAMNED BALL IN!

It's probably got something to do with the fact that our TEs are young and not really good blockers. Smythe is out and luatua is really the only blocker, and he's still a little inconsistent. Houndschell is tough but not a fundamental blocker yet. BK probably doesn't trust these guys yet.
