Which players come to your mind who need to have a big season in order for notre dame to succeed? Both with play and leadership, both sides of the ball. Besides the obvious (Wimbush) there are so many question mark players with high upside in need of an excellent offseason. Here are some of mine NO ORDER
1. Daelin Hayes- Trumbetti has disappointed, I can't imagine Hayes being challenged to start at the stand up end position. Needs to add strength and we could see production.
2. Mike McGlinchey- Stop jumping offsides, be better in the run/pulling game, be a better leader. Pass blocking is darn near excellent.
3. Khalid Kareem- Must get in better shape. Has great natural talent. Could start at the Strong DE spot. Get some pressure!?
4. Devin Studstill- PUT ON MUSCLE, TAKE BETTER ANGLES.
5. Any tight end- Probably Alize, but who knows. 11 yards per game last year (correct me if I'm wrong). Wimbush needs tight end production, Adams needs solid blocking.

Some of the keys to success in 2017, who else comes to mind who can take over and be a competitor and leader on the field?

CJ sanders in the slot
Nyles Morgan should be a beast
Alize jones

I know know about being keys to success, but guys I'd like to see really step up next year are:
(1) Dexter Williams;
(2) Tillery;
(3) Coney.

Def front 7 needs to get pressure on QB's so they cant pick apart the backs. If Kelly of Georgia isnt hurried they will put up too many pts. Turnovers by the def are a must for success.

Players aside, the guy who needs to step up is BK, then his staff. If they don't, the players won't. It begins and ends with BK and the staff. From player development, to game planning, to game management, it's on them to put these players in a position to succeed.

This guy has been pretty consistent in his 1st 2 years for the most part.
he has been good but missed way to many extra points and chip shot field goals for as highly recruited he was. Dont get me wrong i like him he just needs to get consistant

90 - 93 on PAT's and 18 - 34 on FG attempts -- Not too shabby!

yes, missed a chip shot or 2 -- hell, even the pros miss them from time to time.

One for every position group.

Wimbush;
Adams;
Kraemer;
Tillery over DHayes but I will take either;
Tranquil at Rover;
Crawford at CB, i.e., needs to get healthy;
Claypool at WR; and
Studstill.

18 out of 34 sucks for kickers these days. Yoon needs to quit with the celebration routine like he had with Kizer his first two years and be more focused. He has the potential.

I'm more concerned with two issues. First let me say , ND has plenty of talent, especially on offense. Right now I admit I'm a bit jaded. Why? It never ceases to amaze me all the issues that have occurred in the Brian Kelly era. So with that said here are my top two things the Irish need to have a great year. One, stay academically ellidgible. Two, stay healthy. Accomplish that and it will be a successful season. My fingers are crossed.

Whoever is calling the offensive plays, Adams has to be called on early and often. He needs to touch the ball much more.
Everyone on the defensive side of the ball needs to step up.

That has been mentioned so much that I believe many think it is just an excuse. I don't. I have never seen so many games lost by starters that we lost in 2014 and 2015. 2013 was Golson. 2016 was just the perfect storm for failure with no leaders and bad coaches exposed.

So Yoon misses field goals because of his celebration that he does when he makes them?
You have no damn clue if Yoon needs to concentrate more. Don't say stupid things.

You are an ignorant ahole. If he celebrates after every kick he makes he thinks about it before he kicks. It is not spontaneous. You must have got an F in psychology. And for the record I think Yoon is a great kicker--minus the celebrations

If the Oline and Dline step up, everything else will fall into place. Oline opens holes or gives the qb time to find the open receiver. Dline pressure the qb and the secondary doesn't need to cover anyone more than 3 seconds.

This has to be one of the stupidest "points" I've ever seen someone try to make.

You can do better than this.

Adams?
274 carries- 1771 yards - 6.5 ypc -

Can we get a pass rush with 4 hands on the ground ?

Can we consistently run the football ?

Does Wimbush stay healthy for 12 weeks ?

Those to me are the 3 keys to a successful season.

Successful kicks come in pairs. I'd like to see our kickers hold off celebrating until after the subsequent kickoff flies high and stays in bounds.

The guy bows at his holder....this isn't TO sizing up a new type of celebration each score. I'm confident enough to say that is has zero percent impact on his performance.

Adams because he has not emerged as the bell cow giving us 100+ yds a game every game like we need. We need a dominating RB presence like he had his last 5 games last year.

900 yards from him 500 out of Williams and 300 out of another.

1700 yards rushing would be FAR too few

I would like to see the 2500+ rushing yards that we got in 2015 and 2012

I'm thinking something along the lines of:
Adams - 1,100 yards
Williams - 700 yards
Wimbush - 500 yards
Jones - 200 Yards
Sanders - 100 Yards

On top of that, I would like to see the RB position combine for ~300-400 yards receiving

(those numbers would be similar to the production we got during the 2015 season)

You have no idea about how much Yoon. Is concentrating. You have no idea how his celebrations have effected his kicking.

The bow probably has no affect on Justin's kicking but it's contrived and it looks ridiculous. I've been saying that since day 1. Many here like to invoke the name of Lou Holtz when things are going bad, well, WWLD? Pretty sure he wouldn't allow it. With that said, this is all peanuts compared to things that really need focus so that the team might have a successful 2017.

I like the bow and hope he does it before and after kicks.

Bow, no bow, whatever. Both kickers have some work to do.

We were 94/128 in kickoff return defense and gave up 2 TD's.

We were 123/128 in punt return defense and gave up 2 TD's.

That had a LOT more to do with the coverage than the kicking.

The kickers and return men were fine, even good.....the blocking and coverage teams were terrible
(and poor schemes/coaching was a major part of that)

"Return men" weren't good.. had a few good returns but had a lot of bad returns..
can't blame schemes on poor tackling and lack of top end talent on special teams.

I think the return men mainly got most of what was there, and sometimes even more, I just don't think there was a lot there. I'm not claiming that they were perfect, just that they weren't really a major concern...and were actually more good than bad.

And while I don't blame poor tackling and blocking fundamentals (plus coverage fundamentals, like "staying in your lane") on poor scheme, per se, very much blame that on poor coaching. Specifically, I blame it on a lack of time/focus spent coaching special teams.

That's something I'm really hoping to see change.

We need to spend a lot more time practicing fundamentals, and a lot less time learning 1000 possible defensive alignments/calls each week or a million "check with me" calls on offense

Tell us more about the schemes?
