Outside of 2012, what is Kelly's best season at ND?

Lets put the Kelly era in perspective. 2012 is the obvious. Outside of 1 out of 7 seasons (with this season still in question) not one season was anything special. If Kelly gets blown out in another bowl game beating, this season will be average at best. Or should I say typical Kelly season?

2016 was Kelly’s best season. He managed to go 4-8. He missed out on post season. Most of the staff was either fired or reshuffled. Kelly escaped unaccountable and unscathed. Clearly his biggest win!

Agree Doeren is shaky. I do like his passion and interaction with players. Shaw and Franklin would definitely be in play. As would PJ. It would. Be hard to get Patterson but worth a try.
