On a cold, rainy and windy day in South Bend, Notre Dame piled its football team and an impressive list of recruits into the Irish Athletics Center for spring practice No. 3 on Saturday.
As head coach Marcus Freeman walked over from the Guglielmino Athletics Complex to the IAC, he accompanied five-star defensive tackle Justin Scott. In the early portion of practice, Freeman spent a lot of time interact with recruits and their families.
Former Notre Dame players Kyle Hamilton, Josh Lugg and TaRiq Bracy attended practice. Notre Dame offensive line signee Charles Jagusah and cornerback signee Micah Bell spent time watching the Irish practice as well.
Running back Logan Diggs did not participate in practice and was with the previously injured players: tight ends Eli Raridon and Kevin Bauman, running back Jadarian Price, safety Adon Shuler and defensive tackle Devan Houstan.
My observations from the practice itself will be limited for the moment as I spent time recording footage that I'll edit today.
The offensive guards lined up in the same order as earlier this week: Michael Carmody at No. 1 left guard, Billy Schrauth at No. 2 left guard, Andrew Kristofic at No. 1 right guard and Rocco Spindler at No. 2 right guard. Pat Coogan and Ashton Craig took turns playing center when Zeke Correll wasn't.
Chris Tyree continued to work with the wide receivers during the five periods in which reporters were able to attend. Rico Flores Jr. continues to be the freshman wide receiver who's impressed me the most in our two limiting viewing opportunities.
I saw a linebacker alignment that had rover Jaylen Sneed alongside last year's starters JD Bertrand and Marist Liufau, so I imagine that will get folks excited.
That's it for now. We'll be talking to offensive coordinator Gerad Parker and the tight ends here in a little bit. Plenty of more coverage coming your way.
