ND is 29-6 over the past 3 seasons. That is better than Michigan, Penn State, USC, Texas, FSU, Florida, LSU, UW, Mich St, Stanford aka. other perceived Power 5 super powers. The success ND has had on the field kept this team from going in the tank vs V Tech. As Brian Kelly noted vs V-Tech ND played tight, nervous football, because they are 18-21 kids who are not impervious to the garbage spewed on Social Media. But ND played HARD in that game and found a way to win a game they would have surely lost 1994-2016. This program is in B+ condition.
Need a reminder of Lou Holtz's last 3 seasons?
94- Lose to Michigan at home
94- Blown out at BC, after BC cost ND the title the year before.
94- Lose to BYU at home
94- Blown out by Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl
95- Lose to Northwestern at home
95- Blown out at Ohio State
96- Lose to Ohio State at home
96- Lose to Air Force at home
96- Blow a late lead vs a 6-6 USC team in Lou's last game at the Coliseum.
The criticisms of Ian Book is fair, the criticisms of the OL coaching is fair, the criticisms of the no show road performances at Miami and Michigan is fair. But to dismiss the work of Brian Kelly, Staff and Players and start over? Well, that is an extra, extra special kind of message board STUPID.
Clemson 36-2
Alabama 35-3
Ohio St 34-3
OU 32-5
UGA 32-5
Are the only Power 5 programs that have performed better than ND on the field over the past 3 years..
Now I know we have a few clowns with their lips affixed to P.J. Flecks backside today. But these are the same jokers who had their lips affixed to the rear ends of Mark D'Antoni & David Shaw just 4 years ago. Remember? Mich State beat OSU in the Big 10 Title Game and made the college football playoffs? David Shaw beat ND on a last second FG and beat Iowa in the Rose Bowl to win that now "Fictional Big Bowl". Both those cats are both sitting at 4-5 this year, after having had down years 7-6 & 8-5 the year before.
The whole Fleck shtick with the neck tie, crowd surfing and sprinting on to the field is cute when you are 9-0, mostly because you played a cotton soft schedule and beat a totally overrated Penn State team at home..When you lose a few games that Fleck routine will get old quick.
Brian Kelly and the ND program has issues:
1. Getting top notch QB play
2. Getting the OL to play to their potential
3. 4-12 on the road vs ranked opponents.
But I would rather have Brian Kelly try to deal with those issues, then return to the dumpster fire days with some unknown quantity at coach. And I bet you ole Jack Swarbrick feels the exact same way! Deal with it!
