Notre Dame 2025 cornerback target Mark Zackery is here at the Charlie Hughes shootout playing basketball for Indianapolis (Ind.) Ben Davis.
Zackery is coming off a strong camp at Georgia this week where he landed an offer from the Bulldogs. He said they’ve instantly jumped to near the top of his list because of their recent success and defensive culture.
Before he visited Georgia, Zackery was on Notre Dame’s campus on June 12.
“It went great,” Zackery told Inside ND Sports. “I got to talk to [cornerbacks] Coach [Mike] Mickens a lot. We got to discuss our relationship, how things are going to plan out and we got to go over some educational stuff a lot.”
The 6-foot, 160-pound cornerback also said his family delayed their drive back to Indianapolis because he spoke with head coach Marcus Freeman for so long. Zackery said the conversation went great and focused on life outside of football.
Zackery also knows Notre Dame men’s basketball assistant coach Ryan Owens from his time in the grassroots basketball scene with Indy Heat. Zackery said he spoke with Owens on his visit and discussed interest in Notre Dame men’s basketball.
“They’ve been talking to me about how possibly, I might be able to play both there,” Zackery said. “I feel like that’s going to play a big part in my recruitment into any school … being able to play both sports.”
Although he’s a three star recruit according to Rivals, Zackery reports 27 total offers including Cincinnati, Georgia, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Texas A&M, USC and Wisconsin.
Zackery told me he has Notre Dame’s game against Ohio State in September circled on his calendar for a visit.
